Historia
For generations, the solar system—Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt—was humanity's great frontier. Until now. The alien artifact working through its program under the clouds of Venus has appeared in Uranus's orbit, where it has built a massive gate that leads to a starless dark. Jim Holden and the crew of the Rocinante are part of a vast flotilla of scientific and military ships going out to examine the artifact. But behind the scenes, a complex plot is unfolding, with the destruction of Holden at its core.

Everything just seems to have had Alot of thought put into it. From the flip and burn to spinning the dome on the behemoth to Induce gravity. May not follow the laws of physics %100 but to those who don’t totally understand physics it sounds very correct

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Great Combo
Revisado: 07-31-23
I just recently discovered all of these Winslow short stories for free from audible. The combination of Don Winslow’s excellent storytelling and Ed Harris’ spot on narration has me wishing these stories were double the length. I am just glad there’s many to choose from. On to the next one!

Historia
In 1996, Beck Weathers and a climbing team pushed toward the summit of Mount Everest. Then a storm exploded on the mountain, ripping the team to shreds, forcing brave men to scratch and crawl for their lives. In this powerful memoir, Weathers describes not only his escape from hypothermia and the murderous storm that killed eight climbers but the journey of his life. This is the story of a man's route to a dangerous sport and a fateful expedition, as well as the road of recovery he has traveled since.

Very interesting
Revisado: 07-03-23
This book was more than just a recap of the journey one man endured but rather how his near death changed his life in more positive ways than one would have guessed before reading it. The only thing that kind of threw me off is that I kept thinking the narrator was Tommy Lee since I believe it is the same guy who voiced his part of the Dirt book lol.

Historia
This extraordinary one-volume biography vividly portrays the unbreakable link between George Washington and the nation he helped create, defend, and govern. From his military career's beginnings with the Virginia Regiment, here is the exceptional decisiveness that led him to fire the opening shots in the 1754 war between England and France, the unshakable determination which, in the darkest winter of the American Revolution, demanded total victory and yielded to nothing less.

Good info on our greatest American ever
Revisado: 06-13-23
Any and all information on president Washington is indeed relished. It is nice to hear the human side of one so revered and seemingly so much like a god to us Americans.

Historia
Over 50 years after his death, Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) is celebrated as the greatest rock guitarist of all time. But before he was setting guitars and the world aflame, James Marshall Hendrix was a shy kid in Seattle, plucking at a broken ukulele and in fear of a father who would hit him for playing left-handed. Bringing Jimi’s story to vivid life against the backdrop of mid-century rock, and with a wealth of new information, acclaimed music biographer Philip Norman delivers a captivating and definitive portrait of a musical legend.

But her beautiful exterior hides a shocking secret. Beneath the waters of the Perdido River, she turns into something terrifying, a creature whispered about in stories that have chilled the residents of Perdido for generations.

Masterpiece
Revisado: 12-10-20
This saga is one of the best I have listened to since I first dove into the world of audiobooks. Michael McDowell is a masterful story teller that I wish had lived to deliver more of his great stories centered in the south east. To be able to deliver a great familial story that covers generations while also incorporating elements of horror is to me brilliant. Myself being a huge fan of horror and great story telling puts this book above that of Steibencks East of Eden. In addition to the great story Matt Godfreys narration captures the essence of all characters with excellent southern dialect that keeps you constantly wanting to hear more. I am a huge Stephen King fan and would have never heard of this book had I not read King’s praise of McDowell calling him the finest writer of paperback originals today, a statement that I tend to have to agree with. Well worth the time. My only regret was it was not longer as I didn’t want the story to end.
