Historia
The life of Princess May of Teck is one of the great Cinderella stories in history. From a family of impoverished nobility, she was chosen by Queen Victoria as the bride for her eldest grandson, the scandalous Duke of Clarence, heir to the throne, who died mysteriously before their marriage. Despite this setback, she became queen, mother of two kings, grandmother of the current queen, and a lasting symbol of the majesty of the British throne.

A lovely rendition of an honourable woman!
Revisado: 02-13-24
Mary’s early experiences, especially the parts about Eddy and her getting to know George, are some of the best parts. I also enjoyed and appreciated bits of actual letters which are quoted and discussed. Whenever possible, period gossip or unsubstantiated claims deserve research.

Historia
Emma can be enjoyed as a charming love story, a detective story, and a comic and lively picture of English life 200 years ago. Austen's beautiful, clever, wilful but fallible heroine Emma Woodhouse believes she knows best. Perfectly content with her life she sees no need for either love or marriage, yet nothing pleases her more than meddling in the romantic lives of others.

Emma has a good and honest heart. And treating people well is one of her greatest concerns in life. She struggles with vanity. But observing how a challenge always ends with self refection is real joy!

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Historia
In this Audible Exclusive production, Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) narrates one of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Sense and Sensibility. In this timeless tale of misguided romance and heartbreak, two teenage heroines must overcome the pitfalls of Georgian England’s high society in order to achieve the love and happiness they seek. Historia
For an instant the two trains ran together, side by side. In that frozen moment, Elspeth witnessed a murder. Helplessly, she stared out of her carriage window as a man remorselessly tightened his grip around a woman's throat. The body crumpled. Then the other train drew away. But who, apart from Miss Marple, would take her story seriously? After all, there were no suspects, no other witnesses...and no corpse. This title was previously published as What Mrs. McGrillicuddy Saw!

Nobody does it better!
Revisado: 03-22-22
In a recent film version of, "A Caribbean Mystery," Miss Marple is seated next to Ian Fleming as they wait for a complimentary lecture to begin. Jane asks her friend Ian, "How is the new book coming along?"
Mr. Fleming replies, "Very well. Except I can't think of a suitable name for my detective!" Miss Marple answers with a polite platitude.
Then the speaker, an Archiologist, begins, "Good evening. My name is Bond, James Bond."
In this unabridged rendition of, "450 From Paddington," the narrator could have been witless and still pulled off a 5 star 🌟 performance with this masterpiece by Dame Christie. But the narrator is a seasoned and articulate professional who jumps immediately into Mrs. Magillicutty and the listener is swept away as if on the Orient Express.
And no pair could have done it better!

Historia
Cowboy stories and movies about the Wild West are full of amazing characters. Yet many of the lawmen we think of as heroes were anything but - some were violent scoundrels and outlaws themselves. Among all the lawmen of the frontier, one man stands out as a true hero: Bass Reeves. In his day, Bass Reeves was the most successful federal marshal in the United States. True to the mythical code of the West, he never drew his gun first. He rounded up hundreds of outlaws and was shot at countless times but was never hit. Bass Reeves was born into slavery.
