The change in me

Just finished the book. I am a changed woman. I am an older woman and have been married for 27 years. Debi doesn't think she can help older wives but she did. I have been praying for God to send me books that will train me to be a good and biblical wife. I was not raised watching a marriage and when I got married I didn't know how to be a wife. Then God saved me and my journey began. If you really want to be a good wife pray and then read or listen to this book.
Things I liked about the book:
1) Debi is no nonsense and lays it out straight.
2) Scripture reference
3) Different real life examples
4) Every topic I can think of is covered
5) God used it to make me an old not so good wife into my wife suitable for my husband. A good help meet.
Things I did not like about the book
1) The starting narration was choppy sounding. (But she eventually read more smoothly)
2) Some of the scripture references were not exegesis in Debi's application.
3) The constant threat of financial destitute for the wife with kids when the husband leaves her. A lot of women are fine financially if their marriage dissolves. Also, not all men leave. And mostly maybe the husband leaving isn't the point. Being a biblical wife even if your husband would never leave is still of most importantance or should be.
4) Debi saying her book was only for younger woman and older women can't be helped. God used Debi in this older woman. I am corrected, humbled changed and happy about it.
So, in conclusion. Get the book. Pray, ask God to use it to do a work in you and to make you slow to offence. Ask God to let you keep the parts that are devine and correct and dismiss the parts that isn't realizing that our Sister in Christ Debi Pearl is human and her book isn't perfect like the Bible but it certainly can be a major blessings with earthly and heavenly treasures to be gleaned.

She, like Hannah, needed validation of her worth

The beginning was hard for me. What benefit would a pharmaceutical company have in a resolving all sickness? But, I figure maybe most people think pharmaceutical companies are in the business for humanitarian reasons and not money. This is small so I let it go. But then I was waiting for the truth to come out on why neither the top contenders went forward. I decided to let that go too. I mean obviously the point wasn't why she wasn't picked just that she wasn't. The book was a nice story. I read reviews that have issue with the lack of repentance. I didn't look at it like that. I think of Hannah who just needed validation from God. In Hannah's story there is no repentance just her pleading for validation and God giving it to her with Samuel. Not every Christian novel is required to have a New Testament Salvation. Not even the bible has that. Esther's story, Hannah's story and plenty of the psalms are just about being rescued or validated. However, I felt it was over 10 hours of a consistent tragedy and the last hour was not redeeming enough to heal the sorrow experienced in this tragedy. It reminded me of "The Kite Runner". I was left with sorrow for the many victims that had no redemption.

This should be part of every home library

I loved this book and it challenged me so. I am a mom and I needed this book. I only wish the title was something that provoked all Christians to read. The content applies to anyone involved in family matter that involve or may one day involve marriage. Whether it be a counselor, pastor, teen, young adult, older adult thinking about or preparing for marriage definitely mothers and fathers. Sons and daughters and those expecting a baby or child in the home soon.

The whole book in context is biblical

This is not a book to be listened to or read in part. The entire book is the only way to understand what MacArthur is saying. Right to the Q&A in the back. I am appreciative to the thoughtful and thorough biblical application and biblical explanation of the Gospel according to Jesus. If more people read these days I would give them this book. It is especially a good book for parents with wayward or prodigal kids that may have given a profession of faith early in life. Or a good book for those questioning their faith or living in rebellion to God or just comfortable with sinful compromise. Also, good for those studying Jesus teachings about salvation.

This wonderful classic was enjoyable and the performance was delightful. Great to listen to even when Christmas has passed for the season.

I enjoyed this one even more

I enjoy paralandra even more than out of the silent planet. I love them both. This one was very deep. I didn't get a chance to read these as a child. I'm looking forward to the third one now. I would recommend these to anyone who has time to listen to the books.

What a fantastic story

listening to this book was like an exercise for my imagination. like any muscle that needs to be exercised it's a challenge in the beginning but once you have gotten used to it it becomes an easy and fun task. And I enjoy it where it took my imagination. I didn't have time or even exposure to a lot of these classic CS Lewis books. I'm glad I get a chance to listen to them on audible as an adult.

A book every woman who loves Jesus should hear

This book is great for all woman in every stage of life. I went through this book years ago and again. Great for stopping unhealthy cycles, sinful choices and getting through pain and disappointment. A great book to for women who want to walk in the truth of God.
