A Hard Struggle

This book was a struggle for me because of the narration of Kip's character god-awful accent. The narrator needs to spend a lot more time in Brooklyn to learn their accent because this was the worst attempt I've ever heard. I got through a quarter of the book, stopped listening, and returned several weeks later to finish it. The story was decent but would have been so much better with another narrator. This was my first book narrated by Tor Thom and may be my last.

Took me a minute

I have to admit it took me a while to fall for this book. One of characters was a pill to deal with during the first half but he changed for the better thank goodness and I grew to like him and love this book. This book taught me that my virtue with patience needs more work 🙂

Best friends taking the next step

This book speaks to every gay man who has fallen for his best straight male friend, who has no idea that his gay buddy is in love with him. We've all been there, done that, cried over it, and vowed to never ever do it again because it ends with your heart broken and watching the Golden Girls marathon. Dean who represents us, is our hero and of course his straight best friend, Sloan, is completely oblivious and to die for. Aren't they always? I loved this book. So many times I could relate to Dean and so many times I screamed, why couldn't that happened to me? Dang it!!! Fantastic book and I look forward to the next.

Just What I Needed

I simply loved this book. Greg Boudreaux's narration of this story was brilliant. Of course, my favorite character was Jo. I have not laughed so much or so hard from a book in a long time. When the book ended, I was sad and it's 8 hours and 39 minutes long. I will definitely look for other books by Mary Calmes and hopefully she continues to have Greg Boudreaux read her works.

A Definite Struggle

I had a difficult time with this book. The difficult part was the narrative and that hurt the entire book. Four of the characters sound the same and 2 were women. Some narrators cannot do a good book justice and end up hurting the author's work. Such a shame. I will not listen to the other books connected to this book.

Hum drum

Long chapters of boredom. By chapter 7, I was ready to stop listening to this story of scared-to-death, indecisive, Rafael Castro. I listened to book 1 and book 2 and was not impressed. I kept wanting more to happen with these characters such as a healthy development of a sexual relationship between the two main characters and there was nothing. I skipped book 3 because the preview didn't interest me and decided to give book 4 a chance. Another let-down which is strike 3 and I'm done. I will not bother with the other books of this series.

I wish I could give this story 5 stars but the stumbling block for me is David's personality. I just can't get passed his girly, privileged/spoiled behavior. Raymond on the other hand, I adore. I can relate to Raymond's personality - the edginess, masculinity, dominance, single-mindedness, alpha, yet sweet and affectionate when it comes to his man. For me, masculinity in a gay man who is out and proud and don't give a damn about other's opinion of him is hella sexy. Femininity in a gay man, not so much. To each his own but that's why my overall rating is 4 and not 5.

Sexy men in Texas

I absolutely love this story. Michael Pauley's narrative was spot-on. His portrayal of Seth Walker and Ottawa Wilde was perfect.
