Great Drzzzt story in the saga. Terrible female voice
Revisado: 04-15-25
Normally very happy with Victor Bevine's performances over the last 12 or 13 books in this series. However, for some reason he made some terrible character voices in this book, especially a female halfling (Tiggerwillies). It is one of the most horrendous voices I have ever heard! Like Miss Piggy/Minnie Mouse fusion. It instantly broke the story immersion for me. It's the biggest mistake some male narrators make when it comes to voicing female characters. You don't have to sound like a female...just use your normal voice with a softer/lighter tone. Hopefully he doesn't make this mistake in future books. Again, I have loved Victor's previous performances...but this one was a dud where this character is concerned.

Falling off...
Revisado: 06-09-19
This series started of great with the first couple books. Great zombie detail and storylines. interesting characters and great narration despite some glaring mispronunciation. But the last two books...especially this one have changed. Still great narration...but the books have become obnoxious comedies...like a dawn of the dead literally morphing into Shaun of the Dead. The suspense and drama is gone from tense situations because the characters want to have nonsensical dialogue and argue with each other about farts and feelings. Tracie and BT....the worst. Ugh...Talbot's own internal musings are fine and often morbidly dark...but that feels genuine. And Eliza is the stereotypical bad guy who tells you everything...then steps on their own dick. At this rate...I'm not sure I'll hit the rest of the series. Great start....but totally stalled out. :(

Historia
This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book one of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Great story & narration!
Revisado: 05-07-19
One of the most "realistic" zombie stories I've read! Excellent detail of things that would actually happen...from logic to logistics! None of jackass walking dead shit (TV series not comics) The narrator was also perfect for this book... Great humor and ability to relate a horrifying scene in a way that's easy to visualize!

Amazing story with right amount of every aspect in the DL universe. Nick Sullivan is by far the best narrator yet of all the 30+ DL audiobooks I've listened to. I wish he did them all...perfect tone, pronunciation, accents, inflection, and overall great storyteller!

Complete nose dive!
Revisado: 02-19-18
What an incomplete/rushed effort to finish this series. :( The first two books had amazing promise of an epic storyline... This book started off well where the 2nd ended... and that's all I can say that was positive. It seemed as though the author just ran out of time or creativity...and mailed it in. Sad, because I felt this had potential to rival Chronicles and Legends. Why bother to develop characters just to give them an unknown/anonymous fate, regardless of what series follows. This is not how you close out a trilogy.
The reader/narrator...I tolerated through the first two books because of great story...I couldn't any longer. Absolutely horrible voices for dragons and kender. Never thought I would envision mighty dragons as geriatric douche bags...the moaning and groaning voices were better suited for Gargamel. The hillbilly kender...wow, I firmly expected the reader to throw in a "Roll Tide!" each time he spoke for Blister. Somehow I think he screwed around intentionally...changing the most known words and pronunciations in the DL saga to something just terrible. Magius sounded like Muh-gina. Huma sounded like Hooma, and Ariakan....yeah, you get the idea. Do the producers of these audiobooks not do any type of screening? While authors and stories be hit and miss...no excuse for the the readers. That being said...I live the Dragonlance universe! This would be a better read than listen.

Great Story!
Revisado: 02-06-18
Best DL story since Chronicles! Excellent, well developed characters and story. A bit of a odd start, but soon became a very engrossing epic! The narrator was pretty good, maybe my second favorite behind Richard Topol. Although, like some other have noted...the dragon and kender voices are a head scratcher. The dragon voices make me think of a constipated and irritable elderly person who has run out of prune juice. The kender...sound like hillbillies...a voice much more suited for gully dwarves. It throws me off when I envision Blister, who is a very likeable character. Other than that...spot on performance by the Josh Clark! Looking forward to the next book!

Deep beneath the mountain fortress of Skullcap, legend has it, are the remains of the dark wizard Fistandantilus and the path to the gates of the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin. Buried somewhere along that perilous path is the magical helm of Grallen, son of King Duncan, tragic hero of the Dwarfgate War. The finder of Grallen's helm, it is prophesized, will be rewarded and honored by a united Thorbardin - but he will also open the gates of the realm to fresh horror and chaos.

Excellent DL novel
Revisado: 01-14-18
Great story and narrator. The narrator, Topol, is among my favorites in the DL series. Has excellent range, tone and pronunciation. He is also consistent across all his readings. There were a couple oddities...like Kalonda...wtf? A powerful female commander, who sounds like a sniveling Veruca Salt-esque voice . But he has certainly earned a mulligan! As for the story...amazing work by the author. Although the story thoroughly conflicts with other novels that cover this place and time (Dragons of the Dwarven Depths), this story along Storm Blade blow DDD away with characters, story and relevance. my one beef is the last two chapters...they fell completely flat. It's almost as if the deadline was approaching and the author had to wrap it up fast. Disappointing, but the overall story was well worth it. I am a fan of all Mr Parkinson's books.

They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world.

Nostalgia....
Revisado: 07-31-17
Absolutely love the Dragonlance chronicles and all of the subsequent books! I first read chronicles back in the early 90s...and was hooked instantly. Great story and characters by the authors (Weiss & Hickman). I just found them here on audible...25 years later...like it was yesterday. And now...that dragonlance is huge...so many books beyond the Preludes, Tales, Legends, etc... My life is much busier now, so I will try to find any audio book edition I can, but if that fails...nothing wrong with picking up a paperback...like the old days! :) Book was amazing. The narrator was good...it took me awhile to come around on his Tas & Tika...but by the end I was used to them and the story had sucked me back in. Highly recommend to anyone who read the DL universe as well as any lover of the fantasy/D&D genre.

As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

This was my second "live action" audio book in the Alien genre (River of Pain & Out of the Dark). Totally immersive experience! If you are a fan of the Aliens movies...these are great additions to the lore. The actor who voices Ripley...amazing! Sounds just like Sigourney! Great time, hope there are more to follow by Mr. Maggs

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.
