I couldn't help but read this book at a pace that almost kept up with Vic McQueen's bike, and cannot wait to read more of Joe Hill's stuff!

Not only is this an incredible story, Jeff Woodman gives a great performance. The only drawback is that in taking in the audiobook you miss the nuances that Daniel Keyes put into the printed text itself, such as the evolution of Charlie's spelling and punctuation as the level of his intelligence changes. Having loved this book for nearly two decades, though, I would still recommend this version.

I first borrowed this as a cassette from our local library in the early nineties as a little kid, and the tails in this book enthralled me. Over two decades later, I woke up one morning and thought of The Purple Bishop, logged onto Audible and here was the book. The tails are as wonderful as ever. The stories are clean so kids can enjoy them, and should be entertaining for both kids and adults. The author also does a spectacular job of narrating. I couldn't possibly recommend this audiobook enough!
