Can't get past narration
Revisado: 01-15-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes, hard copy.
Would you be willing to try another one of Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield ’s performances?
Yes, I actually really like Luke Daniels and enjoyed his performance in Iron Druid series. This is just not a good fit.
Any additional comments?
I understand the reasons for changing narrators. There are others though that would possibly be a better fit. Fred Berman? How about Holter Graham? Looks like the next one is approximately the same. I listened to the samples on some of his other stuff, sounds almost exactly like George Guidall to me. I have a hard time with his books like King's Gun Slinger series, but I believe it's preference and if the book is written 1st or 3rd person. I pre-ordered. I will give it a chapter, but I may opt for a hard copy instead. Too bad about Gigante but I get it.

I was not sure about this one since it's not my usual genre. In addition to that the negative reviews on the male narrator had me concerned. However, I think he did a fantastic job and sounded very authentic. Overall worth the credit.

Surprisingly amazed
Revisado: 10-25-15
I started this series to preview for my sixth grade daughter. I was happily engaged by the 1st installment, enthralled by the second. Content is entertaining and well written for an adult series; yet appropriate enough for a middle schooler with a good vocabulary. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
I must admit this story is more imaginative, addictive and better written than a lot of adult series in the same genre. It has been no hardship to check out this series prior to handing it over to the kids. The narrator is excellent as well. Worth a credit because of length, fascinating story line, and quality writing.
I rarely write reviews and just give stars for my own records, however this series is worthy of much praise. I will be checking out other works by this author. I am thoroughly impressed; I even forgot I was reading it for the kids sake. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for fantasy and adventure in any age group. Fabulous. I will copy this review for the 1st book as well.

Historia
The hot indie rockers introduced by In the Band return in this compelling second installment of the Luminescent Juliet series. This time the focus is on Justin, the band’s gorgeous lead singer - and a notorious womanizer - who sails through life without a second thought. His only problems stem from the power struggles he has with his band mates, some of whom are living with dark troubles that he wants no part of. Then one night Justin stumbles into a tattoo parlor and meets Allie.

Better than expected
Revisado: 04-30-15
Any additional comments?
Ok, after reading "In the Band" I was not expecting to enjoy Justin's story. However, I was pleasantly surprised to delight in the journey he took turning away from his man whoring ways to the decent human being he turned out to be. I knocked off a star here for some domestic violence that I thought was unnecessary to the plot. This of course is just personal opinion. We could have had the Ex threat here without it going as far as it did. Also, in addition to that I was a bit irritated by Allie not filing a restraining order when Justin initially suggests it (dumb girls irritate me). But... Had she done so we could have cut a bit of the drama out that was overkill and apparently the author wanted this book to be longer.

Historia
Being popular in the college music scene doesn’t solve all your problems; at least that’s what the hot musicians of indie band Luminescent Juliet discover. In this compelling novel, trouble begins when 18-year-old Riley, trying to regain her rhythm after throwing away her percussion scholarship to a top school, wins an audition to become the band’s new drummer. This sets her on a collision course with Romeo, the band’s sexy dark-haired guitarist, whose ambitions do not include performing with a girl.

Pretty good

Any additional comments?
I would have enjoyed this more if it were not for Riley taking so long coming to any decision. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone but it's a bit angsty. I could have done with about 1/2 of the middle of the book so I knocked off a star for that. That being said I loved the female drummer angle, liked her personality and was well entertained during most of the book. Worth a listen.

Good if you can handle a few mistakes
Revisado: 04-30-15
Any additional comments?
The story itself is good and a bit less (bit being the key word) angst in this one. The narrator did a fine job with the voices as well. I knocked off points on narration for pronunciation. I first rolled my eyes when our female protagonist "felt like a piranha" I don't know how Peyton would know how this particular type of fish feels? Extra carnivorous? Aggressive? Anyway, let it go. However, when Sam "gave a self depreciating smile" it kind killed it for me. I'm assuming this is narration and not an error in editing, either way what fits here? She felt like a Piranha or she felt like a pariah? He gave a self-depreciating smile or a self deprecating smile? If you can get past the small stuff it's a good 3rd book in the series.

Cute
Revisado: 04-20-15
What other book might you compare Don't Bite the Bridesmaid to and why?
Not quite there but maybe one of Molly Harpers books.
Have you listened to any of Carly Robins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't know I have over 300 audio books. However, I thought the narrator did a good job and I had no issues with it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I laughed a few times and that is a win.
Any additional comments?
I picked this one up on sale and didn't listen to it for a while. I waited until I had nothing else to read or listen to (because I was afraid it would be stupid) and finally pulled it up. When in the mood for something light, funny and cute this is a good book. Characters were developed enough that you are not rolling your eyes the whole time. It's worth a read and I would pick up the next one in the series; assuming there is a next one at some point.

Any additional comments?
I see some people found this one disappointing, or were bothered by the narration. Being a audio-book junkie myself I know how it is; I can also be quite picky. However, I didn't have a problem with the narration and found the story as intelligent and pleasing as most of of her books. I get in moods for certain types of books and this is not one that you don't necessary check your brain at the door. Female character is intelligent, there is a bit of an adventure, joy and sorrow. I felt a range of emotion, and I found some of it thought provoking. After reading this one I was in the mood to go back and read some of her other books again. I thought it was well written; I didn't want to put it down. That being said I think the best one of Kearsley's I have read to date is "A Desperate Fortune" FANTASTIC! Hope this helps and enjoy!

Best one yet
Revisado: 04-15-15
What made the experience of listening to A Desperate Fortune the most enjoyable?
The narrator was excellent. The story was so compelling I didn't want to step out of to participate in real life again.
What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She did a fantastic job with each character and really gave life to the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There really isn't one in particular. It's one of those books that drops nuggets of truth on you the entire way though. I want to re-read it and reflect on the observations of quite a few of the characters. I believe it was very well written and thought provoking.
