Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Wonderful Story Void of Politics and Shock Therapy
Revisado: 09-29-22
I have returned several audiobooks this year because of authors lopsided, pushy political views and over the top ideals that do not align with my own. This book had none of that stuff and was just what I needed, something to get swept away in. The approach is quite unique whereas you hear parts of the story from an Octopuses perspective (yes an octopus). Just a wonderful, heartfelt story with great narration and no shock therapy! It touts to be a mystery, and yes there is a mystery component, but I would classify it more as a fantasy as last I heard Octopi don't talk or do they?

A complete crime fiction box set! Homicide detective Thomas Prescott may be retired—but a serial killer, a high-profile murder, an ill-fated cruise, and a chilling small-town crime add more than enough excitement to his hard-earned rest. This collection includes the first four books: Unforeseen, Gray Matter, The Afrikaans, and Show Me.

Murder, Mayhem, Mystery and Mucho-funny
Revisado: 07-02-21
I have been searching for a series that was clever, full of mystery and twists and just plain funny (think Stephanie Plum or Charley Davidson) for two years now and finally found it! I binge listened to all 5 books in two weeks and cannot wait for the next one. I saw a review where someone said the books were sexist, they certainly are or at least the first one certainly was, but the author was 22 when he started the series and he just wrote what men really think. In todays uptight world I applaud him and thank him for 40+ hours of pure listening enjoyment. Keep it coming....

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Was Skeptical Becuase it was Free, but Very Good!
Revisado: 09-14-20
This book was free and had decent reviews so I thought, why not? Well, I am glad I give it a listen. Starts out a bit clunky but gets really good quick. I love MMM - murder, mystery and mayhem books and this one did not disappoint and had a unique premise for a change. It was also written by a man who really did a great job writing about females. Looking forward to book 2!

Historia
Working as a dedicated forensic psychiatrist for many years, Emma is not shocked so easily. Then she is assigned to work with Connie, a wife and mother accused of a despicable crime. Connie is suffering from dissociative amnesia - or at least seems to be. Now it is up to Emma to decide whether Connie can stand trial for her sins. But there is something about Connie that inexorably pulls Emma into her orbit. Too Close is a masterfully written riveting listen about the powerful - yet dangerous - closeness between women.

Good book with an abrupt ending
Revisado: 07-09-18
Started out really strong, decent middle but the end could have been a bit more thought out. All in all, I enjoyed this book and it did keep me guessing how everything was going to tie out!

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Loved It
Revisado: 07-09-18
Took a chance on this contemporary book because I love, love, love Xe Sands. Glad I did, it was really good. I have a friend who is an Audible addict like me and we were just saying how there are so many awful books out there with great reviews. Not sure why this one got some bad reviews as it really flows well and was a breath of fresh air. Full of drama, sure, but isn't that why we listen to books?

Holy Cow That Was Awful!!
Revisado: 06-05-18
I downloaded this book because of the narrator, Xe Sands. She was awesome in the book the Ex. I figured she had principals about the types of books she narrated. Boy was I wrong. This book is just plain dumb. People all around the main character die and she shows little to no emotion. I should have guessed this writing would be awful when the main character's daughter's name was Teddy. I swear, if I hear the name Teddy one more time, I am going to call on the Piper myself!

Audible listeners, finally a book we can agree on!
Revisado: 05-04-18
I base so many of my book choices on reviews. Most times I scratch my head and go "huh?" That was awful! I will never choose a book again based on reviews. But alas, I gave it another shot and this time it paid off as this book was so darn good! At times, a difficult listen but gave me goosebumps throughout. I am actually still getting goosebumps writing this review. I love Mystery/Thrillers but needed a break from all off the crap books out there, took a chance on this one and am so glad I did!

Really Good!
Revisado: 03-14-18
Great epic story. A friend of mine told me about this book because there is so much crap out there with good reviews. I guess we all come in different shapes and sizes of sophistication but this was a smart, well written well read book. Highly recommend! I don't generally like any book with tales of war in it, but this isn't about war but the struggles of someone changed by the Vietnam war.
