You can tell the author really believes he’s clever

This books is entirely forgettable and uninteresting. The one or two interesting points are lost by a bloated runtime and a simplistic message.

Ashes is a dark fantasy with a nonlinear timeline that delves into trauma, death, and healing. Wayland weaves these elements together with ease and compassion for the characters. The book builds tension in a really great way throughout the story, and fully realizes both timelines being explored. It begins with intrigue and turns into a race against time as Angela struggles to save much more than just her brother’s soul.

Great listen!

I loved reading this book last year when it came out. Getting back into it as an audiobook was a new experience! Mazza is gritty and real in this book, which pairs well with Chronister’s ability to bring emotional depth to characters. Looking forward to book 2!
