A Life Changing Work on Comparison
Revisado: 09-11-24
I liked the author's transparency. Her authentic writing has great effect in helping others navigate their journeys well. She provided profound insights, touching stories, and wisdom that will help every reader grow. She practices what she shares, and shares her research in an intelligent, yet accessible way. Renee was meant to write this book.
The author also points out the tensions for each of us to navigate. Comparing is inevitable on one level. So why pretend we don't compare? Instead of aiming for the impossible, the author frees up her readers to take a quick comparing glance to learn from the lives of others. We might see skills we want to develop, relationships we want to cultivate, or a purpose in life that resonates with a groeing sense of direction we have. We and many others might benefit if we allow ourselves to be inspired by others to become better versions of ourselves. Thats great, as long as we don't stare so long at another's promotion, house, or opportunity that comparison takes the wheel! If Comparison takes the wheel, relationships, visions, and potential are crushed. Self-confidence is shattered. Misery awaits.
She provides a practical guide to helping us to channel a comparing thought in ways that help us learn and grow. It is possible to get our eyes back on our own journey! What can we learn from others that applies to our own sense of identity and purpose? Renee explains how we can grow in our innovated identity, resist trying to become someone we are not, and overcome feelings of being threatened or insecure. Renee's practical advice here is life changing.
Those who read the lessons in this book will be spared a great deal of pain. Those who make a habit out of the new way of being Renee teaches, will find themselves routinely filled with increasing gratitude, purpose, and confidence. They will thrive as a result. I am thankful for this book and it's contribution to my own life. It has opened my eyes and increased my opportunities to thrive.
