Historia
Carl Weber is a recipient of the Blackboard Bookseller of the Year Award. Married Men is a fresh and funny take on modern love that has been described as Waiting to Exhale on testosterone. Lifelong friends Kyle, Allen, Wil, and Jay all make mistakes in their marriages-and all get kicked to the curb by their wives. What follows is a wild ride with stops in sleazy hotels, divorce court, and even jail. In their adventure, fueled by Viagra® and lovely young ladies, the four men always have each other to lean on.

Wait for the movie
Revisado: 11-28-16
If Married Men was a Lifetime movie, meant to be watched on a rainy Saturday, it would be almost as entertaining as Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married," (but not quite). But as a novel, it's near impossible to get through. Both male and female characters lack depth and are, instead, stereotypical caricatures of people you see in other movies. I wish I'd skipped it.

Pulitzer Prize winner James B. Stewart shows for the first time how four of the biggest names on Wall Street - Michael Milken, Ivan Boesky, Martin Siegel, and Dennis Levine - created the greatest insider-trading ring in financial history and almost walked away with billions.

Wish there was an unabridged version
Revisado: 07-07-13
Typically I do read or listen to unabridged versions of books. However, I wanted to listen to this one and, since it's a little different from what I normally listen to, I felt like the abridged version would be just as good.
And it WAS good, but I really wish there was an unabridged version! This felt too short to me; like I was probably missing some background facts. But, overall, I would recommend it.

Just not for me
Revisado: 12-10-12
I've never read a Western before, nor have I seen the miniseries, but the reviews of the thousands of people who've read this book over the years were so overwhelmingly positive I thought it was a good one to give a try.
I guess Westerns just aren't for me.
As I was nearing the end of the book (just wanting it OVER more than anything, since I don't like to abandon books part-way through), my friend and I discussed the fact that she is not a Western fan either, but loved the mini-series so much that she read the book and loved that too. It made me wonder how many people love this book for that reason-- because the miniseries was so good. Maybe in this case I just should have watched the movie instead!

Pretty Freaking Good
Revisado: 04-14-12
The ONLY reason I don't give this five-stars across the board is that I read "We Need to Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver about two years ago and remember enjoying it more than Defending Jacob. I remember it being a darker version of Defending Jacob-- a similar story. Had I read Defending Jacob first, I might have preferred IT to the other. Nonetheless, it's a pretty freaking good listen.

As good as the first!
Revisado: 03-30-12
I read the first two books in this series on my Kindle, but vowed (because of the length!) to listen to the rest. It took about 20 minutes to get used to the narrator's accent in the very beginning, but then I was hooked! Roy Dotrice does an excellent job, and the book itself is as good as the first. I can't wait to start the next one.

Huge Disappointment
Revisado: 02-19-12
Several years ago I read The Other Boleyn Girl and couldn't put it down. Now I can't help but wonder-- was The White Queen really written by the same author, or was I just out of my mind when I devoured The Other Boleyn Girl? THIS BOOK WAS HORRIBLE. More often than not, it feels like the main character is far from the action and, as a result, it's difficult to give a darn about a single character. I will never read Philippa Gregory again.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Very Enjoyable
Revisado: 02-09-12
I don't do a lot of Stephen King, but the reviews on this were so good I decided to give it a shot. It was not as scary as I wanted it to be, but overall I found it very enjoyable, even tough to stop listening at points because I wanted to know what happened next. All in all I was not disappointed.

Love Love Loved It!
Revisado: 01-28-12
This is one of the saddest, most wonderful books I've ever read. Having lived in Manhattan on 9/11, I appreciated the subtle ways that the author and the narrators captured the nuances of that time in New York. The characters are unique, but in so many ways relatable. I don't know how anyone cannot love this book.

In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

It's 60 hours of your life
Revisado: 01-18-12
I might have felt differently about this book (that is, I might have enjoyed it more), if I had gone with the abridged version. It is so long that it many times felt like a chore to listen to (rather than an enjoyment), and there were many times I felt myself thinking "surely it can't go on like this for much longer!" But it did... and then some.

Way too long to be this boring
Revisado: 11-26-11
Thank goodness for a fantastic performance by the narrator-- it was almost the only saving grace for this 40-hour snoozer dotted with a handful of exciting scenes. Maybe I would have felt differently about the abridged version.
