Historia
The intelligence failures surrounding the invasion of Iraq dramatically illustrate the necessity of developing standards for evaluating expert opinion. This audiobook fills that need. Here, Philip E. Tetlock explores what constitutes good judgment in predicting future events, and looks at why experts are often wrong in their forecasts. Tetlock first discusses arguments about whether the world is too complex for people to find the tools to understand political phenomena, let alone predict the future.

Historia
As one of the few black students in his philosophy program at Columbia University years ago, Coleman Hughes wondered why his peers seemed more pessimistic about the state of American race relations than his own grandparents–who lived through segregation. The End of Race Politics is the culmination of his years-long search for an answer.

Sowellian!
Revisado: 02-16-24
Coleman Hughes is a fresh new voice of reason and common sense, which today hits most people as a revelation but shouldn’t. This book will remind readers of Thomas Sowell for its intelligent connection of ideas and facts along with its dispassionate tone that allows the reader to discover just how corrupt Kendi and his acolytes are.
Bravo! Cannot wait for Mr. Hughes to write his next book.
PS—There’s also a hint of Ayn Rand in his analysis of individuals and justice

Historia
In this seminal work that has spent more than 30 years in print, Dennis Prager and Joseph Telushkin explain the reasons behind anti-Semitism, the world's preoccupation with the Jews and Israel, and why now more than ever the world needs to confront anti-Jewish sentiment. Prager and Telushkin examine in detail how anti-Semitism is a unique hatred - no other prejudice has been as universal, deep, or permanent - and how the concept of the "chosen people" spawned that hatred.

All Moral People should support Israel and Jews
Revisado: 12-01-23
This is an important book for all champions of morality. While I reject the premise that morality comes from God, as a moral atheist I support Israel and its people for respecting individual rights and freedom. Anti-Semitism is nothing more than “hatred of the good for being the good.”

Historia
Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

Historia
It has become the prevalent view among sociologists, historians, and some theistic scientists that religion and science have never been in serious conflict. Some even claim that Christianity was responsible for the development of science. In a sweeping historical survey that begins with ancient Greek science and proceeds through the Renaissance and Enlightenment to contemporary advances in physics and cosmology, Stenger makes a convincing case that not only is this conclusion false, but Christianity actually held back the progress of science for 1,000 years.

Religion and Science and Politics are incompatible
Revisado: 01-23-23
Stenger has written an intelligent and thoughtful book but he allows his personal political agenda to seep into his analysis especially the last several chapters and he goes from scientist to global warming alarmist in a sentence or two. Otherwise this book is well worth reading for it primary thesis that science and religion are as different as reality is from make believe.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

A Painful Truth
Revisado: 08-29-19
This is an important story for women and men alike who may have survived a childhood of abuse. I say “may have” because this author correctly focuses on how victims of family abuses are easily persuaded that their memories are false and that they have misremembered or misinterpreted what actually happened. Her story is both tragic and triumphant and shows that we can both love our abusers and escape them if we can be honest with ourselves about what really happened.

Here is an impassioned plea for reason in a world divided by faith. This important and timely work delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes.

Belief in God will not fix a man made people problem
Revisado: 03-25-19
I always think it’s important to listen to all points of view especially those you disagree with. This is an important book if only because it expresses beliefs and ideals that differ from mine and I’m guessing that it may from many. But I did fined common ground and I agreed with Ben Shapiro’s conclusion at least enough of it. However, I’m not sure that his conclusion is where his rhetoric necessarily should lead. Our problems as people are manmade and not god made.
