Brotherband is Going Downhill
Revisado: 08-08-23
Loved the first Brotherband books. This one was frankly boring and predictable. It gives competition to the latest Royal Ranger book as the worst of John Flanagan

Very slow for a very long book.

I didn't get through the whole book. I thought the plot was dry. I liked the descriptions, but the climaxes would get resolved too fast.

Historia
Will Treaty and his apprentice, Maddie, have been urgently summoned to Castle Araluen. When they arrive they learn a shocking truth: the prince of Gallica is missing - and the king of Gallica has asked for help. All reports suggest that the young prince has been taken prisoner by the dangerous and powerful Baron Joubert de Lassigny. King Duncan knows that sending troops to Gallica to rescue the prince could start a war, as could openly helping Gallica resolve internal convict. But there's another way to save the prince: the Ranger Corps.

As good as can be expected from the Royal Ranger
Revisado: 11-18-20
The Rangers Aprentice books are some of my most favorite of all time, but the Royal Ranger books fall drastically short. I keep listening to each new book, hoping that something unexpected will happen and am always disappointed. This book is no exception and reminds me of Ranger's Apprentice: The Icebound Land, two people traveling throughout Gallica not really doing anything worth mentioning. There was nothing tense until the vary end. The "Black Vultures" and "Bear Killers" were, in one word, pathetic, and they didn't even flow with the rest of the book. I would highly recommend not reading the latest three Royal Ranger books if any of them. My feeling is that John Flanagan's target audience is beginning to drop toward a younger age group. This does not strike me as a good idea because the people who read his books in middle school will now not be entertained by his new books meant for mid-elementary age kids. Either this is the case or he must be running out of ideas. Or maybe the former is true because of the latter.

Didn't quite make my expectations
Revisado: 04-21-20
I love this series and I know I am not the story's target audience (age 15) but I just liked the other books so much better. Don't get me wrong. I think it was a great book but my expectations were probably a little too high. If the series had come out 7 years ago I would have liked it much more.

Revisado: 06-04-19
As much as I love all the Ranger's Apprentice and Botherband books this one, while it was good didn't come close to some other ones. The whole book was so predictable that for me at least nothing unexpected happened the whole time. I liked the first few much better.

Historia
G. K. Chesterton’s Father Brown is perhaps the most lovable amateur detective ever created. This short, shabby priest with his cherubic, round face attracts situations that baffle everyone - except Father Brown and his rather naïve wisdom. The twelve enthralling stories in this book take Father Brown from London to Cornwall, from Italy to France, as he gets involved with bandits, treason, murder, curses, and an American crime-detection machine.
