Historia
What does it mean to "think Orthodox"? What are the unspoken and unexplored premises and presumptions underlying what Christians believe? Orthodox Christianity is based on preserving the mind of the early Church, its phronema. Dr. Jeannie Constantinou brings her more than 40 years' experience as a professor, Bible teacher, and speaker to bear in explaining what the Orthodox phronema is, how it can be acquired, and how that phronema is expressed in true Orthodox theology.

A Fine Introduction to Orthodoxy- Perhaps
Revisado: 02-05-24
I have an appreciation for the Eastern Churches, and wanted to learn more about Orthodoxy. This was certainly a comprehensive book, and I enjoyed listening and learning more. The information enhanced my own spirituality as well. The author is certainly qualified to speak on the topic. She has the credentials and the experience. My only criticism might be when she juxtaposes the West to the East. I am not uncomfortable with this because I am a Western Christian, but because some of her assertions weren’t quite accurate because of context and nuance. She may have done better to confine herself to Orthodoxy.
I enjoyed the presentation.

Two Views of the Cross: Orthodoxy and the West

Historia
For Protestants or Catholics seeking to understand Eastern Orthodoxy, the Cross is a good place to start. In the West a multitude of different views sprang up over the last millennium, but Orthodox Christian beliefs have remained unchanged. The contrast between those views is suggested by the two images on the book's cover, showing how differently the meaning of the Cross was understood, East and West.

Insightful Presentation
Revisado: 06-08-23
I found this to be a great presentation on the Eastern Christian approach to soteriology. I found a particular weakness in often lumping Catholics & Protestants together to make points about “Western” Christianity. Most, if not all of what is described here can be reconciled with Catholicism (even if it isn’t an emphasis of the Roman Church). The same can’t be said of Protestantism. I think this book gives a very accessible presentation overall.

Historia
One of Cardinal Ratzinger's most important and widely read books, this volume is a revised second edition with an improved translation and an in-depth preface by the Cardinal. As he states in the preface, since this book was first published over 30 years ago, many changes and significant events have occurred in the world, and in the Church. But even so, he says he is firmly convinced that his fundamental approach in this book is still very timely and crucial for the spiritual needs of modern man.
