Loved it, and short enough I listened to it all in one sitting. The cast was great, and the profits for such a good charity make it all a worthwhile purchase!

I started it, unsure how effective it would be, then woke up 8 hours later with the book finished, me unable to remember more then five minutes of it, and amazon asking for my review. there is creepy asmr out there, but this isn't it. if you like whispery polite asmr you'll like this.

some funny parts but too many references

some parts were really funny like the Kentucky fried velociraptor and the entire dolphin plot. the opening addressing the 1 star reviews was also kind of cute and funny. but, a lot of this book has aged and you've heard these jokes so often on reddit they were stale in 2017 and now in 2020 they're practically fossilized. the writer compares his work to late night political satirists, but the difference is those jokes are only meant to stay fresh 24 hours, maybe up to a week or a month. when i buy a comedy book I expect it to be dated but still funny a few years later, to surprise me, to catch me off guard. this book feels less like an odd couple comedy adventure and more like a goofus and gallant comic from a kids periodical. its not appropriate for kids because of politics, violence, and swearing but its also not subtle enough for adults. its not terrible but missed the mark for me.

the performance is good but its acted more than narrated so whenever cairo starts shrieking in his dialogue the baby im breastfeeding wakes up a little and bites me. its just that character but if you adjust the volume for cairo to not be too loud all the other characters are too quiet to hear. its not even like other audiobooks and leveled more like a radio drama.

the premise is so funny and unusual youd think itd be impossible for the book to turn out dull, but it is. it hits all the beats in a three act structure but in the least inspiring way possible. characters are flat, locations are never fleshed out, dialogue lacks warmth or humor. even though i love ya and i loved the premise the book was a real slog.

Excellent adventure

I love magic 2.0 and I love this. Even at his worst Scott Meyer is pretty entertaining, and this is one of the better books in the magic 2.0 series. I can easily see many potential threads to pursue for further sequels and eagerly look forward to them.

I always knew Brit was the literal worst. This book proves it hilariously. I feel like my vague contempt for her these last four novels is finally explainable. Not just fluff like book 4, a lot of stuff happens and changes with this volume. Even if you didnt like 4 give this one a try, its at least as good as hell or high water.
