Historia
Elizabeth was not off to a good start in life, unwanted even before she was born. Fortunately, the tiny baby was placed in the loving care of her paternal grandparents, where she lived for the first three years of her life. Then, her abusive father arbitrarily decided that she belonged with her parents and unceremoniously ripped her from the only safe, secure home she had ever known. In spite of her turbulent childhood and teen years, Elizabeth managed to go to college and become a physical therapist.

Good ol’ fashion fun
Revisado: 02-28-24
I was looking for a different book (same title, different author) when Audible suggested this, and I’m glad they did.
I enjoy a well written novel, fact or fiction, like anyone else but after 100’s of these, it was time to venture outside of the box. Like most of those books, it took some grit to get through the first chapter or two. However, this one was so challenging trying to follow the storyline I almost gave up. Not a quitter, I continued on and glad I did. There really are enough gems here to be worth a read/listen (although you’ll hear many repeats). It’s so refreshing to read a story from a grateful person who isn’t so angry at life. She overcame her trauma, like many of us do, and made lemonade out of lemons. Yay!
In 5th grade, a teacher taught us a bit about the world but promised us that if we traveled the states before we were 30, it would be worth it. Basically, this was my vicarious trip, across and back again, with lots of quips and stories to warm the soul. The ending is a treat - I love the herding dog’s POV! I wish there were more from this author and will not shy away from others like this. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did.

Face is a book of fictional vignettes that examines the fear and vestigial evolutionary habits that have caused women and men to cultivate the imagined reality that older women’s faces are unattractive, undesirable, and something to be "fixed".

Authenticity at its best
Revisado: 06-15-23
Written from her heart, soul and mind in the best of intentions. Good objectivity although her perspective of her book comes from her personal experience as well. Which I love how she turns obstacles into opportunities. I also appreciate her POV directed to blast and saturate the communities with #truth Listening to Justine perform and inform while she read her book was the best experience. My only feedback would be perhaps a summary from JB about moving forward with the momentum. Her opinions or well wishes would complete her creative narrative of females of all ages. I truly look forward to her next work

Historia
Christmas is approaching, and in Québec it's a time of dazzling snowfalls, bright lights, and gatherings with friends in front of blazing hearths. But shadows are falling on the usually festive season for Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. Most of his best agents have left the Homicide Department, his old friend and lieutenant Jean-Guy Beauvoir hasn't spoken to him in months, and hostile forces are lining up against him. When Gamache receives a message from Myrna Landers that a longtime friend has failed to arrive for Christmas in the village of Three Pines, he welcomes the chance to get away.

Superb listening until the very end
Revisado: 05-08-23
No spoil alert here just accolades. Robert Bathurst (narrator) has done such a believable job with his voice acting I feel like I know the characters. His consistency and depth has no match. What I find fascinating is HOW he narrates all of Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache novels - without rehearsing a line (or reading ahead!) he enters the enveloping mystery with us, the readers. This method I believe brings more suspense by sparing no hints as to what’s to come while continuing his flawless performance. Stunning!

What can I say?
Revisado: 09-06-18
In hope of devouring this book, Feast, I was prepared to hear the ins and outs of a budding chef. i almost stopped after the first chapter not sure what I was actually getting into but something kept me coming back to her story. Disappointed? Not really. It was still an interesting read and worth my time. Excellent narrative from an addict"s POV and very inspiring.

Historia
In his best seller Wheat Belly, Dr. William Davis changed the lives of millions of people by teaching them to remove grains from their diets to reverse years of chronic health damage. In Undoctored, he goes beyond cutting grains to help you take charge of your own health. This groundbreaking exposé reveals how millions of people are given dietary recommendations crafted by big business, are prescribed unnecessary medications, and undergo unwarranted procedures to feed revenue-hungry healthcare systems.

Empowering, Entertaining and Educational
Revisado: 04-28-18
Struggled in the beginning to let go and be immersed with just another seemingly hot headed arrogant MD that needs to have his opinion heard (entertainment), however, after the first chapter I was all in for the next 90+ chapters. Listened beginning to end over the course of a couole weeks and while enduring occasional flippant remarks, the entire read was empowering and educational. Although much of this was simply a confirmation (CHC), many items were pure gold nuggets with corresponding bookmarks. Lots of information here that justifies also buying the hard copy as a reference. Highly recommended for those working in medicine, complementary health or those with chronic disease. The future of health(care) never looked so good. Thank you William Davis MD - you are a hero to many.
