Great peak into a strong woman's life

I can picture the places, people, and situations thanks to great storytelling and excellent narration. It was over too quickly. This would be an excellent book for any would-be vets to really understand the challenges. As it is for entertainment, it's great storytelling of a strong woman's journey to be who she wishes to be.

What I've waited for since 2015

in 2015 I suggested Ronconi and York do a book together in this style.and it was everything I knew it would be. They are just exceptional narrators.

The story was realistic, thoughtful, and relatable. I was new to Zapata's writing, but I will cetainly explore more.

This will be on a permanent play list for those times you just need the perfectly written and narrated story to sooth the realities on modern life.

Bloviation from a privileged person

This book is preaching for the sake of hearing oneself and could have provided the message in one page. It is clearly written from a young, privileged person's point of view. While there the core message is true and worthwhile, there was nothing to assist the person not beginning from a point of privilege or accounting for the lack of privilege. Free or not, I wish I had not wasted my time that could have been focused on something assistive.

Delightfully refreshing

I was dubious about an unknown to me author but with Sabastian York narrating without the heavy sexual content, I decided to give it a go. I'm delighted I did. The narration was wonderful. But the story and characters were real against a wonderful story of personal challenges, hurts and growth. I look forward to new titles from this author.

Good, but not quiet Danishly

I really loved Living Danishly and Leap Year. I hoped the same for this book. it is good but it was more like a random collection of thoughts than a cohesive boom or essay. A chapter to provide the themes from these counties' cultures would have made it a 5 star for me. otherwise it was to typical, delightful Helen Russell book.

It's a lovely story

It is a lovely story delivered in the form of a letter. It is like having a frank conversation from an eccentric aunt. The beautiful message of what Vivian learns is something many of us could use at an equally young age.

You never go wrong with Molly Harper

After stumbling upon her audiobooks years ago, I have never gone wrong with her books. This is no exception. Amanda Ronconi always enhances the great writing. This was no exception. It was different to have a second narrator. I always struggle with the characters voices from different narrators. I wish it was more like the old radio theater where the narrating actor performed the voice throughout. But that's a personal preference, or industry opportunity. My only complaint is the stories can't come fast enough - lol.

The new location and storyline was fun. As with almost all Ms. Harper's offerings, the story is set in the South and draws upon the regional customs and cultures. It is exciting to see the introduction into the other magic beings and cultures. It offers so many opportunities for new stories.

The angst and sex is not the star, which I appreciate. The characters are so well developed, you get to know them as a being and not a character, or worst, as a caricature. This is no exception.

Bravo for another excellent production! We can't wait for more!

I don't get why everyone else loves it

I don't get what so many think is so great. There is NO steamy, dreamy or otherwise. It's drags on and on. It was like listening to an 11 year old nerd-girl's idea of a romance based on "Shades" in its emotional unavailability and controlling man. I can't imagine anyone that naïve and clueless as Janie. There is nothing about Quinn that allows us to get to know him and make any emotional connection. It just got exhausting to wait for something, anything.

Fun story, but not all the narration helps

The story is very cute, fun, sweet. Amanda Ronconi's narrations was excellent. Alexander Cendese's narration was painful. His character voice change to extreme falsetto for all female characters make this like two different books shuffled together. If it had been only his narration, I would have asked for a refund.

So yummy

I appreciate the romance from the guy's perspective, the hot love making and the build up to a happy ending. Josie and Chase are both wonderful characters.

The one thing I did not like about the book is the "Josie's recipes". It just threw off the cadence of the story.
