Very good, but MUCH more gory than the rest!
Revisado: 03-28-25
The author did a great job of adding detail and surprises to a story we already thought we knew. Lots of twists and turns, very well done. It would be 5 stars but it had a LOT more gore than the rest of the series. I know it’s the hunger games and killing is kind of the whole point, but it was definitely much more graphic than any of the others. My jaw dropped multiple times. Overall I still loved the story, but I did not love the more graphic descriptions of death.

Not YA anymore.
Revisado: 11-21-24
I’m only part way through but I’m done. So disappointed that the author decided to add more spice to her young adult series. It didn’t need it, and anyone interested in that has plenty of other book options. The clean romance was one of my reasons for liking and recommending this series. Maybe the “fade to black” bedroom scenes are very mild compared to what else is out there, but it is far more descriptive than any of the other Inheritance Games books and feels very out of place in the series. These are no longer YA. The puzzles and story line that I loved feel so overshadowed by the sexual tension and content throughout it. It seriously ruined the book for me. Huge bummer to preorder and wait months for something like this.

The third book ended so well I didn’t know if I wanted to keep listening, but this one was very well done. I loved the games and challenges presented to the brothers, loved the story. I can’t wait for the next one to come out!

Deep and meaningful motivation
Revisado: 12-01-22
I really appreciate the vulnerability and honesty with which this book was written. Alison’s authentic and beautiful self shines through even more than I’ve ever seen through years of loving her and her message.
It has such a deeper feel to it than other “self improvement” book. It’s not the get “hyped and make surfaces changes that don’t last” kind of motivation. It’s deeper. Not so much about changing yourself as it is just acknowledging and loving the beautiful person that you already are, along with practical advice to help you connect with your emotions, body, and soul.
Alison’s honesty and rawness about her struggles make me really believe in the principles, and want to practice them myself. Thanks Alison!

Lots of F-words
Revisado: 05-23-22
Probably should have expected this based on the name of the book, but because of the limited exposure I had had to the author where she didn’t swear at all, I definitely did not expect the language to be as bad as it was.
If that doesn’t bother you you’ll probably like the rest of the book. I really enjoyed most of the content.

When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Amazing again
Revisado: 10-15-20
Rachel Hollis always finds a way to say just the right thing. This is definitely a great book for anyone going through a tough time. *cough cough 2020.
I went in a little sceptical because I had read a negative review of the book about her writing being toxic positivity and not giving any advice about processing grief. idk, if the author of that review actually read the book, or if she just isn't a fan, but I definitely found this book to be helpful and sincere.
Yes there is a time to grieve and mourn and Rachel talks about that. but there is also a time and place for moving to the next phase of life after a loss, and Rachel is the perfect person to help you get there if you are stuck! loved this book, love her, definitely recommend!

Revisado: 05-22-20
I loved it! I love the Hunger Games books and this was a great prequel! I wish the reader would have sung the songs like the reader of the original 3 did, so the performance was not my favorite. But the story was excellent! Please write more Suzanne Collins!!
