Historia
Breathe, smile, and move on. When you’re writing the next chapter in your rags-to-riches-to-rags story, you need about a million quotes like that. I might have been short on inspiration, but I had determination. That was it, except for a very young cousin and a very old campervan, but I was all about starting over. Nobody knew me in New Zealand other than a series of café and motel managers, and anonymity suited me fine. Manlessness suited me even finer.

Roman and Summer
Revisado: 08-13-24
I loved this book and the audible brings it to life. The two narrators, Emma Wilder and Calum Gittins, make you feel like you are right there, in the action. Here is the review I left when I read the book:
I just finished reading Catch a Kiwi. I’m an emotional wreck - in the best way! Roman and Summer are magnificent. Delilah is a delight. And family - oh my! Author Rosalind James has a way of telling a story, of drawing you in. Of coming full circle and making you think, and feel! If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. So many friends and family members from the past, so many updates and conclusions. Get ready for the best ride!
My review still holds true with the audible. I was given a free copy of the audible in exchange for an honest review, and you just read it. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Historia
Being sentenced by a woman in a black robe is not a meet-cute. Quinn Jeffries follows the rules. A judge in small-town Sinful, Montana, doesn’t have much room for missteps, and when you spend your childhood training for the Olympics, you don’t have time for anything but discipline anyway. And, see? It’s worked! Her life is just fine. Of course, it doesn’t include any romance, but her new six-first-dates plan could fix that. She just has to be feminine and beguiling, or maybe marginally less take-charge. Too bad she doesn’t know how.

Beckett and Quinn
Revisado: 11-08-23
The audible for this book was narrated by Emma Wilder. She did a remarkable job with the voices and accents, bringing the story to life. I previously read the book and my book review follows:
This is Sinful, Montana: Book 4 by author Rosalind James. She is a master at world-building and depth of character. Family, straight talk, and a bit of a mystery make this story flow in the best possible way. I enjoyed Beckett and Quinn, their lives, their pasts, and their careers. I also enjoyed Janey and Troy, but I especially enjoyed the crows. Get to know them all. You won’t be disappointed.
I received a free copy of this audible in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

Just For Me - Luke and Hayden
Revisado: 10-01-23
I was willing to listen to this story, but wasn't sure I would like or enjoy it. In prior Rosalind James’ works, I liked Hayden as a secondary character and I liked Luke as a secondary character, but having them as the main characters in a story was out of the ordinary for me. You see, they are gay and I am not. Hayden is somewhat uptight and Luke is solid. Hayden is coming out of a relationship and Luke is coming out. The story is about people in love, with all of the angst and emotion that goes with it. The narrator, Emma Wilder, does a wonderful job with voices and accents. Even though both leading characters are male, her voice did justice to their characters. Give it a try - you might enjoy it!

When you walk out of a cult with a driving license and the clothes on your back, you can face some challenges. How does a cooker work, and what do you cook on it? Is microwave pizza actually food, and how many times can you eat sausages before you never want to smell them again? And what do people put in all those bathroom drawers?

Gabriell and Oriana - Loved!
Revisado: 09-15-22
I really enjoyed listening to Gabriel and Oriana. The narrators are so good! I liked hearing the pronunciations for words I have read that may have sounded differently in my head. Such a fun language to experience. My original review for the book follows. I bought/read the book, but the audible was given to me. The opinions expressed are my own. Here’s my book review:
Out of the cult, but so out of sync with their new world, new lives. I loved the innocence and curiosity from Gabriel and Oriana, and their entrepreneurial spirits. There is so much I could say, but honestly, just read this book! It is one of my favorite stories to date. 5 stars all the way!
Now go listen to the audiobook. It is good!

Rescuing a woman dressed in a nightdress at a costume ball? That worked for me. And holding her up against the wall, to shield her from the cops, was pure enjoyment. Driving with her to a barbecue, a fruit salad in my lap, and her twins - her girl twins - in the back seat? Out of my comfort zone. And that was before she started asking me for dating lessons, and wondering how to explain that she couldn’t have sex before marriage. I had it under control, though. I was coping. Until four sisters of mine decided to go looking for their sperm donor.

Layla and Lachlan
Revisado: 04-11-22
I read the book first. My book review is at the end of this review. Here, I am reviewing the performance. What a performance! Emma Wilder and Tom Janson have narrated other books for this author, but this one is special. Emma and Tom ARE Layla and Lachlan. Their performances made the story better. I enjoyed the book, but this audiobook is better, to me! I really enjoyed it. Now, here's my original review of the book:
Oh, the tangled web! Laila and Lachlan have so much going on (read the book blurb). Lives intertwined without them even knowing. Discoveries made and those yet to be made. Sisters. Parents. So many pieces! I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed their chosen careers. I enjoyed the multiples. I enjoyed the twists that brought things together. Author Rosalind James always brings something different, new, fresh. Love it or not, it will make you feel.

Nate and Megan
Revisado: 11-17-21
When I read this story, I really enjoyed it. Author Kim Law wrote a complex and engrossing story. My enjoyment did not translate to the audio book, though. It's the same great story, but the narrator was not easy for me to listen to. Amy McFadden does a decent job reading the story, but there was something about her voice that made listening difficult for me. This is just my opinion, as you might enjoy her reading. The story really is good, so give it a try. My original review of the book follows:
Family dynamics play a critical role in the development of children. For Megan, it left her wanting a home of her own and a love that sticks. For Nate, it made him run at 18 and now he doesn’t know how to stop. This story kept me turning pages til the end. There’s just so much going on! There’s sibling shenanigans, business ventures, love stories, and family. I really enjoyed watching Nate and Megan fall in love. Author Kim Law does a fantastic job writing these complex characters. And they really are complex, with their pasts, their future dreams, their current situations, and their connections. She gets inside their heads and makes them come alive. The secondary characters are pretty awesome, too. If you’ve read any of the prior books in this series, you’ll recognize most of them, but this story can stand alone. I really enjoyed Nate’s work friends and Brooke. This is a wonderful addition to the Wildes of Birch Bay series.

Historia
Luka Darkovic has some tackling skills. He hadn’t planned on using them to bring down a runaway dog the size of a Shetland pony, especially not when his neck is already buggered. At 33, a rugby forward protects his vertebrae.... He’s even less happy when the dog’s incompetent owner turns up in his hospital cubicle the next day with a plan to fix those vertebrae. He prefers his life simple and his neurosurgeons drama-free. And definitely less distracting.

Luka and Elizabeth
Revisado: 09-07-21
Narrated by Emma Wilder, this is a long one. Over 19 hours! Ms. Wilder does such a good job of getting into the author’s head and expressing her words so well. Five stars for the narration! Below is my original review of the book, in case you want to read that :)
Every book I have read by this author is engaging. She is so expressive! This book is Elizabeth and Luka’s story. Both are highly rated professionals in their own areas. Both have personal issues that create the backbone of the story. For Elizabeth, it is whether she can love or be loved. Learning to give and receive love is so basic, yet so absent in some families. Elizabeth has been described as cold-blooded, so it is with pleasure that we see her evolve. Luka is a big, manly man, yet we see his sensitive side, too. A rugby player coming to the end of his playing career, he is a good citizen and willing to risk it all. These two come together in such a fun way (unexpected, I know, from what I have written so far)! I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Marko and Nyree. I also loved Webster. This story has it all, including many in-head conversations that explain so much. Ms. James is great at delving into issues and exposing their underbellies, giving backstories and character thoughts straight from her own expansive mind. What a treat to visit inside the author’s head and see how she thinks!

Historia
When discipline is your life, structure’s a good thing, and Owen Johnson’s got plenty of both. An All-Pro NFL center who’s also a cattle rancher? Yeah, that’s structure. His marriage didn’t work out, but then, he picked the wrong woman. A Wyoming ranch doesn’t look nearly as romantic up close. Not to a model, anyway. Next time, he’ll choose better. Not, for example, a 19-year-old ball of fire like Dyma Cardello, who’s just starting on her own journey. To become an astronautical engineer. After about five years of schooling. Which she’s focused on like, well, a rocket.

Owen and Dyma
Revisado: 06-16-21
I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The opinion expressed here is my own. I was not compensated for this review and I was not required to write a positive review. I was, however, required to put this statement in my review.
Listening to this audiobook was fun. Hearing the excitement, sarcasm, innuendo, and emotion that words may convey but can only be imagined when reading, made this story come alive. Narrator Emma Wilder has done another masterful job of putting voice to the words of author Rosalind James.
My original review from reading the book (which I bought) follows:
Dyma is a pistol. Owen is steady as can be. She’s headed to college. He’s a rancher who plays in the NFL. Their worlds are so far apart. Dyma learns (the hard way) that intelligence and independence are great, but they aren’t everything. Owen learns that sometimes the best things aren’t the ones that make sense. They both love fiercely and are each other’s peace. This story is quietly powerful. It sneaks in and reaches past your heart, all the way to your soul. You can feel the happiness, the heartache, the pain, and ultimately, the love. The past, their ages, and distance are not powerful enough to keep these two apart. I really enjoyed Dyma’s story. I also enjoyed the extension of Harlan and Jennifer’s story since they were so much a part of this story. The realities of college, pride and hard work were good to see. But mostly, I enjoyed Owen, his integrity and his steadiness. Author Rosalind James has a winner here.

Harlan Kristiansen may not be good at many things, but he can sure catch a pass. He’s an All-Pro at charming a room, too, and then there’s that Norse God thing. He can even figure out how to tackle a woman and save her from a charging bison. On skis. What happens when you drop that game-winning pass, though, and your house is too big, too weird, and too empty? When your dad’s a mean drunk, your mom took off a long time ago and stayed gone, and all your money can’t keep your little sister safe? You fall back on what you know, that’s what.

Jennifer and Harlan
Revisado: 02-13-21
At over 17 hours, this is a long listen. The wonderful Emma Wilder narrates the story, and it is so good. The story was good when I read it, and it is equally as good hearing it. Take the time, or make the time, but listen to this one. It is time well spent.
My original review:
This book is so good. Every time I read a book by author Rosalind James, I think there is no way it will come close to the book before, and then I am wrong. This book is so so good! The story takes you from the wilds of Yellowstone with bison and wolves, where we meet Harlan and Jennifer (again, if you have read the first two books in the series), back to your childhood, your family, and the building of your character. Harlan is a good looking All Pro wide receiver with all the money and fame, but his family is a mess and there are secrets, which is why he doesn’t do long-term. Jennifer had a baby in high school, in a small town, so no secrets there, at all, but lots of family support and love. Harlan and Jennifer are good people, likeable. Owen, Dyma, and Annabelle are all wonderful support characters. Some of the scenes in the book are hilarious, yet this is not a light, easy story. This story is full of highs and lows, pain and happiness, discovery and love, and all of the emotions that keep you reading. Lessons are learned, choices are made, you will probably cry (I did), and you will definitely leave feeling satisfied. This is a long story, as many of Ms. James’ books tend to be, and it is worth every minute of your time.

People who say “love is trust” probably didn’t grow up in a cult. My name is Daisy Nabhitha Kittredge. I chose it myself. As an RN in the emergency department in one of New Zealand’s largest hospitals, there wasn’t much left in me of the 16-year-old girl, covered from neck to ankle and not allowed to make eye contact with a boy, who’d run away with five dollars in her pocket and terror in her heart.

Revisado: 08-26-20
I read this book a couple of months ago. Listening to a book after you’ve read it allows you to pick up on things you may have missed. This is such a good story, and the narrators made it come alive. Emma Wilder and Tom Janson do such a good job! I enjoyed their accents and characterizations. If I could give the narrators more than 5 stars, I would.
Here’s my original review of the story:
What would you think you should expect if you escape from a cult? Daisy found out and now she’s rescuing a couple of her sisters – if she can get there!
From start to finish, this story takes control – of your time, your thoughts, and your heart. Author Rosalind James is SO creative! Her characters seem so real and interesting, and her ability to write funny, heartwarming, and gripping stories will keep readers entertained while they are schooled on some tough topics. This is a long story, but a fast read. I didn’t want to put it down!
From cult names to the chapter names, and concussions to possible CTE, I enjoyed the whole story. A few characters from previous books make appearances, there’s a dog named Xena, and a yurt! This is a 5-star read. Enjoy!
