Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Just when I think it can't get better, this series takes another jump up. I breezed through this in 2 days. The character development is outstanding. Listening to this makes me feel like I know the characters personally. The depth and range of characters - from pretty much pure evil to good - give a real world picture of life. Wrath gives us a picture of what can happen when betrayal hits. I can't wait for book 6

Historia
If it wasn't for Diggory Finch, the towns of Twin Falls would've been eaten alive by a incursion of monsters from the unthinkable beyond. Not that he's a hero, per se. It's more than he strung enough mistakes together in a row that something good happened, and wiped them off the face of the planet using the torrent of evil power that channels through him.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American-Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American-Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a vengeful way.

Wow! Just Wow!
Revisado: 08-10-21
I love this book. Diggory Finch is such an interesting character. And it seems he may be the first in his line to be smart enough (or dumb enough) to stand up and face what is going on head-on. Of course, he has the most amazing new friend - the local librarian. Librarians are awesome and she believes him and is standing by him. It appears she will be a strong female character in the series - which is always a plus. But my favorite character other than these two is the psychiatrist. I backed the kickstarter and also won a contest, so I got to name a character. Morandia Hallett Perry is named after me, so every time I hear her name I smile. I don't know yet if she is good, evil, or a product of her situation, but she is part of the twelve. I'm very curious about the 13th.
This book is broken into two types of entries - Diggory's diary entries for his future self and Interlues which give us some insight into the other world and the history of Twin Falls. This is an excellent device to separate yet bring together the story. I look forward to the next one. A++. I'm ready for more! The narrator is exellent as well. And he even pronounced my name choice correctly! Kudos to him for that. Way to go Joe!
I am generally not into horror, but this one is a good one. I will read more in the series as they come out. I recommend you do too.

Lockey the Amazing!
Revisado: 01-16-21
full disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for an impartial review. I would have gladly paid full price for this book.
Lockey is an amazing character whom we watch grow up during the apocalypse, especially once she meets Nate- a retired military guy. She learns about herself and she learns to trust others. She is a smart-arse throughout. They are excellent foils for each other. Her family grows, zombies die. What more could you want in a zombie novel? The narrator is excellent. I must admit, as an American, some if the idioms were a bit foreign to me, but the gist of them was understood.
honestly, I can't wait for the next book!

not sure what to think
Revisado: 09-17-20
This is a great think piece. It's fascinating and terrifying. I want my freedom and privacy. I would hate this. Sometimes I do want to be alone. Completely alone. His view of love scares me. And the juxtaposition throughout. Wow. I can't imagine having memories removed. Even the bad ones. What makes us who we are? What defines us as individuals?
