Couldn't stop listening . . . .
Revisado: 10-16-21
I've been a NASA/space geek since the days of Sputnik, Mercury and Apollo. As such, I was fascinated by the way Chris Hadfield wove the actual names, places and events of the Apollo era into such an exciting story. If they don't make a movie out of this I'll be very disappointed.

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

An Emotional Read
Revisado: 03-31-21
This story was an emotional roller coaster for me. It helped me understand and respect the courage and sacrifices made by my father's generation. I remember having tears in my eyes as I walked along the Vietnam memorial. This book brought back some of those same feelings.

Bill Nye Saves the World
Revisado: 07-24-17
I've always appreciated Bill Nye's passion for science and his ability to explain scientific phenomena and technology. In this book he explains how science nerds and the rest of us can save the world through technological advances as long as we can just learn to overcome our tribal influences. He's right of course but overcoming our cultural fears and learning to cooperate is a lot more difficult than understanding science or math.

Indiana Jones meets Albert Einstein
Revisado: 07-15-17
I'm a big fan of both so this story was perfect for me. Christopher Lane's narration and character voices were well done so I always knew who was speaking. A great summer read and an imaginative conclusion regarding Einstein's alleged role in the development of the A-bomb.

Great read
Revisado: 04-28-17
This was one of my favorite Audible books. The plot moved quickly with lots of twists and turns. Once I started listening I just couldn't stop. It read like a summer blockbuster movie. In fact I hope some Hollywood studio picks up the option for this book. It would make a great movie. For me, the only thing that would improve the book would be for the author to flesh out the characters a little more. Nevertheless, I give it 5 stars.

Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

A fine piece of American history.
Revisado: 03-16-17
Scott Brick did an amazing job re-creating Ron Chernow's story of the life of Alexander Hamilton. The story lays waste to the myth that our founding fathers shared a common goal and worked in harmony to achieve it. Nothing could be further from the truth. In many ways our founders were as divided, maybe more so, as we are today. Chernow points out the bitter rivalries between Hamilton and Jefferson , Madison, Adams and others. I remembered from my history that Hamilton was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr but had forgotten that Burr was a sitting vice president when the duel occurred. Just imagine if that happened today. My only criticism is that the book was a bit long and tended to bog down in certain places. Otherwise, I loved it and would recommend Ken Burns start working on a documentary based on the book as soon as possible.
