Historia
Marlow needs to believe she's crazy. The alternative would mean embracing the gift—or curse—shared by her mother and grandmother: she can see angels and demons, including a dark and haunting entity who's been with Marlow her entire life. At least, she believes that's all he is until a fae from the Nordic pantheon strolls into her life and informs her that she's been sharing a bed with the Prince of Hell.

Frustrating FMC
Revisado: 03-08-25
I really wanted to like this more. It had promise but the FMC is annoying and frustratingly slow on the uptake.

Historia
My plan was to meet a boy, fall in love, and live happily ever after. That ended when my boyfriend died and left me half of his business. Now, his best friend and I are business partners. There’s just one problem: We hate each other. Jax and I have been rivals since childhood. He wants me out of the business, but it’s all I have left. The more time we spend together, the more we question if we were ever rivals at all.

Ugh
Revisado: 02-27-25
I expected more with such an incredibly high average review score. The story was fine. I finished it. Probably only because Connor Crais’ voice made it not so painful to listen to.
I don’t normally write reviews when I don’t love a book. Liking or not liking a story is so subjective and I never like to put a creator down.
But if you’re like me and browsing reviews to find a riveting small-town contemporary romance, I’m here to let you know there are SO many better options. There wasn’t enough character development and both MC’s were pretty annoying at times.

Historia
Over 100 years ago, Aethion was thrown in the middle of what would forever be known as The Great War. Kingdoms were torn apart, countless innocent lives lost because of the greed and lust for power of one man—Lachlan Roarke. His band of misfits called themselves The Horde. Which was fitting, seeing as they tended to overrun and eradicate everything in their path.

Should have way more than 8 ratings!
Revisado: 07-15-24
Can’t remember if this book was recommended by Audible or if I saw the title on Instagram but it deserves way more hype than it has. It only had a few ratings but they all seem to be rave reviews and mine is no different.
This is the author’s debut novel and there were a few instances of odd phrasing and a couple of storyline development flaws (ie. a character brought into the story who then just disappears and is never mentioned again when it feels odd they wouldn’t be?) but even with these little things, Palmer did a wonderful job developing relatable dynamic characters and a plot that never lagged. I was extremely invested and don’t want to put the book down. Crossing my fingers that the 2nd and 3rd books in the trilogy get recorded to audio as well since it’s the only reading format I manage with my busy schedule!
Definitely worth the credit for any romantasy lovers like myself!

Well, crap
Revisado: 04-01-24
Omg. This series is amazing. My assumption could be wrong, but if this is truly Penn Cole’s debut series, I’m beyond astounded and impressed.
There are a couple of moments I’ve been able to predict, but I have a feeling Cole deliberately set it up that way because there are so many moments where I have no clue what’s about to happen.
The dialogue is believable, the character development on point. It’s a series that’s tough to put down. And those cliffhangers! Book 3 isn’t yet available but I’m super excited for when it is. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Historia
Since the Final War, I’ve been doing just fine. I have a lovely cave, a darling vegetable patch, forest views . . . and if loneliness sometimes squeezes my aching heart, well, my books have always kept me company. That is, until a pack of hunters chase me from my home and right into the arms of several rather large, rather brutish ex-Army Rangers. And those brutes have the nerve to make me the rudest offer I’ve ever heard. Their protection—for my body.

Wonderful characters. Didn’t want to put it down. And ohhhh the male vocals. This book falls under NSFW at least if you don’t want to explain away the blushing!

Historia
Running away from home at 17 wasn't easy. Let's face it, though, nothing before or in the ten years since has ever been easy for me. And I'm doing okay—sorta. I just need to keep scraping by, living under the radar. Staying out of people's way, off people's minds. When a man walks through my open patio door, stepping boldly into my home and my life, I should be scared, frightened, terrified. I must be more broken than I realized because I'm none of those things. I'm intrigued—and I'm wondering if the way to take control of my life is by giving in to him.

Try The Predator instead
Revisado: 02-29-24
The best part about this book was the “meet cute” (can you call it that in a dark romance??) which was mostly described in the book synopsis.
After that, there were just too many eye roll moments. I would’ve returned the credit after 10ish chapters but apparently audible has a limit on how many books you’re allowed to not enjoy in a year so I finished it between other books.
Expect insta-love, a 27yo virgin (ugh, the virginity losing scene was a little too much for me) lots of smut and woe-is-me inner dialogue but very little character development. Her - “I had a bad childhood and now I’m broken and have zero meaningful relationships.” Him - “I’m a bad man. I saw her first and now if any man touches, looks at or maybe wants to talk to her, he will die.” That’s it. That’s the entirety of the character development.
And finally— quick vent and very minor plot spoiler— if you have the guy narrate “I made sure to turn the safety on before tossing the gun on the ground in front of her,” you can’t have the meek, completely inexperienced with weapons female pick up the gun and shoot the bad guy on the first shot without mentioning the safety she likely has no clue how to turn off.. 🤔😣
I hate giving “bad” reviews, and I guess this was fine if you’re just looking for a quick smutty mafia read, but if you want a page-turner with characters you’ll actually get attached to and cry over (plus plenty of toe-curling smut), try The Predator by RuNyx or Forget-Me-Not-Bombshell by Peckham and Valenti.

Historia
A soldier raised as heir to an empire, Zarrah is motivated by two truths. The first is that the Veliant family murdered her mother. And the second is that her pursuit of vengeance will put every last one of them in their graves. The Endless War between Maridrina and Valcotta has raged for generations, leaving thousands of Zarrah’s people dead and countless more orphaned. So when she’s given command of the contested city of Nerastis, Zarrah is prepared to do whatever it takes to destroy the Maridrinian forces who oppose her. And to kill the Veliant prince who leads them.

Not a fan of the male narrator
Revisado: 02-26-24
Sometimes narrators sound robotic. When the guy was just narrating, it wasn’t so bad but as soon as he was speaking Keris’ dialogue, he became so monotone.
The characters and story were fine — a little slow. I just didn’t enjoy as much as the first 2 Bridge Kingdom novels.

It was okay
Revisado: 02-25-24
This has very YA vibes. The main character and her romantic interest are mid-twenties but they act and speak like bumbling blushing teenagers. The cover lead me to think this would be dark and twisty but it was like a Scooby Doo mystery. The actual mystery was well done — I can usually predict the whodunnit but this did keep me changing my guess.
I guess it just wasn’t what I thought it would be and I wanted more romance, more suspense and less… sweet innocence?

Revisado: 02-13-24
The final Airren book did not disappoint. The narrators were fantastic as always and I loved that not only was it a duet narration but we got to hear from all 4 POV’s. There were one or two points where tears were literally streaming down my face and I almost balked at the ending but thank goodness for the epilogues. Looking forward to Jenny’s next series!

4.5 stars - good read
Revisado: 01-07-24
I was hesitant based on the sample (it just didn’t pull me in) and it did start off a little slow. But about half way through, I found myself wanting to know what happened next when I finished a chapter.
I was looking for a nice, sweet YA love story as a break from why choose and spice and this novel hit the spot. But it isn’t just a love story…it has mystery and intrigue, a bit of fantasy and this fascinating premise about a quarantine lockdown that we can all now relate to a little bit.
Not going to be my absolute favorite read of the year but still highly enjoyable and entertaining.
