Historia
The Naval Service of the Honorable East India Company, popularly known as the Bombay Marine, operated in romantic areas in perilous times. From the Indian Ocean to the South China Sea, from Calcutta to Canton, the Company ships were famous for their speed and daring. The "Bombay Buccaneers" who sailed them were the stuff of legend. For Percival Merewether, 1806 would be a year to remember.

Great 19th century age of sail series
Revisado: 07-13-21
This book takes place in my favorite time frame for historic fiction. Much in the vein of Alexander Kent Bolitho novels, it is set in the 19th century during the Napoleonic wars but not from a British navel prospective but from the British East India's private navy called the Bombay Marine. If you like the Hornblower, Bolitho and Aubrey novels and series this is a must listen. Additionally, this series has with more action than most of the aforementioned novels and has a faster pace. Sadly there are only three novels in this series but all three are over 14 hours each. This is a gem of a series don't pass it up.

This book is an enormous waste of time
Revisado: 12-11-20
This sequel was a HUGE disappointment. It felt like Cline's publishing house made him write this book over a weekend. It was formulaic, predictable and the first half was really slow and boring. The second half was was filled cartoonish pull something out of thin air at the last minute save to the day. Avoid Ready Player Two!!

With laws against the use of the wheel in carriages or carts, the Japanese, their tradition-bound Emperor, and competing warlords detest the foreigners, who have ruined the Chinese with the Opium Wars.

Historia
American scientist Matt Miller has been torn from his own century and dumped into colonial Virginia with only his backpack and his wits. He has come to terms with where he is and when and has surrounded himself with new friends but has also made an enemy who has sworn his destruction. Matt now leaves Virginia to make his fortune in Philadelphia, with the hope of returning and claiming the hand of the woman he loves. It seems predestined that he has been dropped into this new century to succeed on a grand scale. He soon finds that a sworn enemy in colonial America is no small thing.

terrible narrator
Revisado: 07-29-20
the author should continue to write but discontinue reading his stories. no voice changes when speaking for different characters, no accents even when the narrative says "in her Gernam accent". the title is also a bit misleading. good story thoug and is worth listening to.

Historia
American scientist Matt Miller is torn from his own century and dropped into Colonial America with nothing except a backpack. Matt must meet the challenge to survive in a newly forming society where he seemingly has no relevant skills and no one he can count on. I finished the book because I listened to all the others in the series, otherwise I would had stopped listening to this book 3/4 through it. It may be a style that I don't like but this last book disappoints. The reader did a great job and kept me listening otherwise I would have stopped listening much earlier.

The true story (on which the film Jeremiah Johnson was partially based) of John Johnson, who in 1847 found his wife and her unborn child had been killed by Crow braves. Out of this tragedy came one of the most gripping feuds - one man against a whole tribe - in American history.

the movie is better than the book

the reader was slow and uninspired. they story jumped around and didn't transition well. sad because this could have been a great story if written better or told as a continuous story, like the movie, verses a set of stories.
