Introducing Additional Purchases
Revisado: 03-25-25
This is a short audio pitching additional programs to purchase. Great topic and introduction but was assuming this would be a typical power packed N-C audio.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Soooo Interesting!
Revisado: 10-23-19
Typical extensive research by Gladwell. Job well done. Only reason I didn’t give it five stars was I feel we missed the “rest of the story”. Did not Sarah and Freddie talk to strangers? That would be an interesting take! Highly recommend if you are interested in the way people think.

This is different
Revisado: 07-17-19
This book is different than the many other “how to change habits”. I am downloading the many free tools and studying in detail. This stuff makes sense because it is realistic.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Historia
David Marquet, an experienced Navy officer, was used to giving orders. Marquet acted like any other captain until, one day, he unknowingly gave an impossible order, and his crew tried to follow it anyway. Marquet realized he was leading in a culture of followers, and they were all in danger unless they fundamentally changed the way they did things. Struggling against his own instincts to take control, he instead achieved the vastly more powerful model of giving control.

Revisado: 07-31-17
As a submariner several years before the author took over the Santa Fe, let me say I only wish I would have had the opportunity to serve under him. At least now I am able to apply these principles to my own organization. They are making an immediate difference!

Historia
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

Historia
Sink into the easy Texas drawl of celebrated Western novelist Elmer Kelton, the son of a Texas cowboy and a five-time Spur award winner. In this live workshop recording he'll share insights about writing in a genre that doesn't always receive the respect it's due. Kelton discusses literary prejudice against Westerns, suggests ways to find a fresh slant and create unusual characters, and reviews trail drive novels. Some of his over 2 dozen novels are: The Day the Cowboys Quit, The Time it Never Rained, and Eyes of the Hawk.

A must for the aspiring western author
Revisado: 11-10-15
This is for the aspiring western author. I took notes of a list of books to read if I am to learn the trade. This is not a step by step guide by any means. Hearing from those who have achieved success in this genre and what they have studied to get there is most valuable. For as short as it is, it is well worth the time.
