Historia
There is a plague of crime so dark it hides in plain sight. The corruption involves the highest levels of business and government, the nation’s most prominent people, and monsters of every sort. These people want Atlas Hargrove dead. Now one of them has found him. Is this the end for Atlas, or a brand new beginning? When the 14-year-old son of a powerful member of the Bundesrat goes missing, a call is made, a deal is struck, and Leopold summons the team to Cologne, Germany where they will hunt for a kidnapped child and the people who took him.

Schow delivers again Atlas deliver justice!
Revisado: 01-11-24
Boy can RB Schow write some truly terrible awful no good very bad villains. Fortunately, he also created the man to deal with these vermin. Atlas Hargrove is a classic hero written in a modern and frankly bad ass way. The "Devil" in the title ranks as one of the worst vermin Atlas has ever been sent after. What's nice is that the story has evolved through the first four novels. It's not merely the same format as the first book. In between the action and villainy, we have learned more about Atlas as a character, just as we are learning more about his fellow "teammates." I'm looking forward to getting into the next book in the series.

Terrific short story made me a Graham Jones fan!
Revisado: 01-11-24
Hard to find authors who can write a good short story, but this collection delivers. The characters in nearly all the stories are well drawn and believable. the stories unfold in intriguing ways and the writing is top notch. I had never read a Stephen Graham Jones novel, though I have been planning to for some time, so I decided to pick up a short story collection to get a taste of his storytelling style, and I am now a fan.

Historia
Gather round as today’s most diabolically clever authors twist simple moments into otherworldly horrors. An empty baby stroller. A scratching underneath the bed. A farmhouse in the moonlight. With an unnerving sense of the macabre, these stories transform our greatest fears into bone-chilling realities.

Game changer crime novel
Revisado: 06-08-23
Stories are not just telling what happens, it’s how you tell it that matter as much. And in the case of Savages Winslow has hit upon a style that is unique and which holds your attention from start to finish. It’s a great slice of SoCal life…with a sativa flower and a chainsaw on the side. Yeah there are parts that are a little over the top or too easy but what action thriller isn’t. Total original. High recommend.

Historia
All Denny Malone wants is to be a good cop. He is the "King of Manhattan North", a highly decorated NYPD detective sergeant and the real leader of "Da Force". Malone and his crew are the smartest, the toughest, the quickest, the bravest, and the baddest - an elite special unit given carte blanche to fight gangs, drugs, and guns. Every day and every night for the 18 years he's spent on the job, Malone has served on the front lines, witnessing the hurt, the dead, the victims, the perps.

May The Force Be With You
Revisado: 07-12-17
Imagine a character and a story out of The Wire, The Shield, even The Sopranos and you'll have a sense of the kind of cop, the kind of man you'll meet in NYPD Detective Denny Malone.
Don Winslow once again creates a world populated by men and women who live by code. Be they codes of honor. Codes of the street. Codes of criminals or police. Much as he did in The Power of The Dog and The Cartel he weaves an incredibly entertaining tale. from the very first page until the last Winslow hooks you. I read / listened this but ok in a few days
Unlike past novels written largely in 3rd person narration this is (as far as I know) Winslow's first (or close to it) time using the first person narrator as he does in this book. This puts you right inside Denny Malone's head which is an incredible place to be.
I highly recommend this book and the author.

Historia
Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Too jokey. Makes the more sincere parts feel muted.
Revisado: 08-21-16
I admire respect and enjoy Tina fey and her sense of humor, writing and performing. I am only giving her book a low rating in the hopes she will right another. There are many good anecdotes in this book however it always feels like they are being used as set up for another fairly insignificant joke. I was hoping for a bit more insight into her experiences.

Thought-provoking and entertaining.
Revisado: 08-13-16
This book is a must read. For starters it is an entertaining take on time travel and its consequences.
Far more than that however it is a meditation on life, how we choose to spend our days, and what is most important in the long run.
A truly wonderful book. To be read and considered thoughtfully.
