Tim Curry Beautifully Weaves Garth Nix’s Magic

There is an irrepressible beauty to Garth Nix’s words that could only have been brought to life by Tim Curry. Through their combined voices you truly see the world and fight the evils that pursue Sabriel as she fights to uncover what has happened to her father.

Yes, Uh, and NO

There are good and bad in this book. I loved each story except The Places Beyond the Maps and From the Deeps of the Dragon King.
The Dragon King- uh…
The Dragon King was good, but I wish it would have ended with talk of Grandma and how she felt about the Hunters. The story needed a better ending.

Then there is Beyond the maps. No, no, no.
Beyond the Maps is just gut wrenching and only made me unhappy for days. It left the same taste in my mouth as Ghibli’s Grave of Fireflies. It is a painful story. It took me a week to finish and I only finished it out of stubbornness.

A Beautiful Love Letter

This is a wonderful set of vignettes that transport you. You see, hear, smell, feel, taste, and experience everything through the beautifully written images. It paints a magical journey.

I wish they would create a cookbook from all these wonderful recipes!

Why did they change the Narrator

One of my biggest peeves is when you get to know one narrator and get to live them and then the author, or the publisher, or whomever, changes their mind and they hire a different reader. It’s so frustrating!! It takes away from the story and messes with the audience’s suspension of temporary disbelief because, without fail, the new narrator is always dry and borders on monotone in comparison to the original actor.

Good book, but lack luster experience.

A GreatBook Series! Love the characters, the twists and turns, and the grit. I love that this is Sherlock Holmes meets John Wayne while mixing science fiction and steam punk in the best tradition of HG Wells, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice Burrows.
Technology and Fantasy come alive with a Marshal from the Old West on the streets of late 1800s London or New York.

Yeah Owen, SloMo, and Oberon!!

Owen, SloMo, and Oberon are the best parts of the books!! We love them so much!
Owen is the perfect old cantankerous Irishman and you just want to reach through and hug SloMo.
Oberon is Oberon. He is the reason my family and I continue our search for the perfect poutine.
