Historia
In AD 533, the last Vandal ruler in North Africa consults an oracle on how to defeat the invading Byzantine army. The oracle tells the king that a high priestess cast a curse upon the Vandal Kingdom after a sacred scroll was stolen. In order to lift the curse, the scroll must be returned to its rightful home. But the kingdom falls before the scroll is found, leaving its location a great mystery...until a current day archaeological dig, funded by Sam and Remi Fargo, uncovers some vital clues.

Remi seems different
Revisado: 05-08-25
Remi kept asking Sam what he was going to do to fix things vs asking what can we do to help. First time I’ve really disliked Remi

The book was a little heavy with explanation but works because of how the explanations are given.

Tim Curry Beautifully Weaves Garth Nix’s Magic
Revisado: 12-20-24
This story makes you feel like you are in winter and in a world of magic that could be real. There is an irrepressible beauty to Garth Nix’s words that could only have been brought to life by Tim Curry. Through their combined voices you truly see the world and fight the evils that pursue Sabriel as she fights to uncover what has happened to her father.

Yes, Uh, and NO
Revisado: 03-20-24
There are good and bad in this book. I loved each story except The Places Beyond the Maps and From the Deeps of the Dragon King.
The Dragon King- uh…
The Dragon King was good, but I wish it would have ended with talk of Grandma and how she felt about the Hunters. The story needed a better ending.
Then there is Beyond the maps. No, no, no.
Beyond the Maps is just gut wrenching and only made me unhappy for days. It left the same taste in my mouth as Ghibli’s Grave of Fireflies. It is a painful story. It took me a week to finish and I only finished it out of stubbornness.

Historia
Down a quiet backstreet in Kyoto exists a very special restaurant. Run by Koishi Kamogawa and her father Nagare, the Kamogawa Diner serves up deliciously extravagant meals. But that's not the main reason customers stop by. The father-daughter duo are 'food detectives'. Through ingenious investigations, they are able to recreate dishes from a person’s treasured memories—dishes that may well hold the keys to their forgotten past and future happiness. The restaurant of lost recipes provides a link to vanished moments, creating a present full of possibility.

Historia
Janner, Tink, and Leeli Igiby, the Lost Jewels of Anniera, are hiding from Gnag the Nameless in the Green Hollows, one of the few places in the land of Aerwiar not overrun by the Fangs of Dang. But there's a big problem. Janner's little brother - heir to the throne of Anniera - has grown a tail. And gray fur. Not to mention two pointed ears and long, dangerous fangs. To the suspicious folk of the Green Hollows, he looks like a monster. But Janner knows better. His brother isn't as scary as he looks. He's perfectly harmless. Isn't he?

Why did they change the Narrator
Revisado: 11-03-23
One of my biggest peeves is when you get to know one narrator and get to live them and then the author, or the publisher, or whomever, changes their mind and they hire a different reader. It’s so frustrating!! It takes away from the story and messes with the audience’s suspension of temporary disbelief because, without fail, the new narrator is always dry and borders on monotone in comparison to the original actor.
Good book, but lack luster experience.

A GreatBook Series! Love the characters, the twists and turns, and the grit. I love that this is Sherlock Holmes meets John Wayne while mixing science fiction and steam punk in the best tradition of HG Wells, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice Burrows.
Technology and Fantasy come alive with a Marshal from the Old West on the streets of late 1800s London or New York.
