Historia
In What We Owe The Future, philosopher William MacAskill argues for longtermism, that idea that positively influencing the distant future is a key moral priority of our time. It’s not enough to reverse climate change or avert the next pandemic. We must ensure that civilization would rebound if it collapsed, counter the end of moral progress, and prepare for a planet where the smartest beings are digital, not human. If we set humanity’s course right, our grandchildren’s grandchildren will thrive, knowing we did everything to give them a world of justice, hope, and beauty.

Round of applause
Revisado: 08-20-22
A remarkable presentation of research resulting in a deeply thought provoking piece of work. This is my first introduction to MacAskill’s, work but I’m certain it won’t be the last. However painful it was to listen to at times, the overall picture he paints is inspiring and truly begs the question “what good am I capable of offering the world in my lifetime?”

Wow. what?
Revisado: 12-10-20
A surprising level up from RPO. Some slow sections but a provocative story. So glad Wil Wheaton did the voice performance for RPT as well.

Historia
Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults.

Loved it!
Revisado: 03-06-20
If you are a true fan of the Ender stories, Xenocide won’t fail to entice and excite you. It’s full of philosophical and thought provoking content. As a graduate student in religious studies and anthropology, I found Xenocide to bring up some truly remarkable ideas especially related to the compassionate treatment of diverse sentient life. Yah It’s long and gets a bit wordy at times, but hands down, it’s well worth the read!
