Historia
The aftermath of the virus left the world in shambles. Humanity was centuries from recovering. The devastation was caused not by pestilence and death as in past plagues, but by immortality, vitality, and infertility. The pandemic was so transformative that it became known as simply the Event. John Fitzpatrick, retired FBI agent, is consumed with exposing what, or who, is behind the Event. As John looks for answers, he must navigate a new world created by the Event, decades of world-wide depression and war, messianic cult leaders, and a meddlesome AI.

Can't decide which is worse, the reading or the writing. My advice is pass on this one.

OK book, bad narration
Revisado: 05-16-21
I’ve been enjoying Audible Books during the pandemic, including several HG Wells titles. “In the Days of the Comet” is an okay story and good social commentary. This narration is awful. It’s rushed, with almost no inflection and many errors: repeated sentences and phrases, obvious changes in sittings, background noise. Sounds like it was read at home in a bad acoustic environment and not edited. Disappointing.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Terrific Series
Revisado: 11-15-20
This is the fourth book in the Bobiverse series. I thoroughly enjoyed each of them. The stories are good science fiction, adventure, exploration. The approach is unique and good fun. Ray Porter did a PERFECT narration.

Yada, yada, yada.
Revisado: 06-02-20
I enjoyed the first four books in the Not Alone series. Fun ideas, good characters, original treatment of alien contact.
But, OMG! Book 5 is dragged down by way too much narrative. Everything is overwrought, over-thought, over-explained. Trying to catch up readers who did not read the first four also added bags and bags of too much.
Honestly, this book bored the heck out of me, whereas I had fun and consistent interest in the first four. Maybe avoid this. Not enough value-add to suffer through four-times as many words as needed. Ugh.

Terrific!
Revisado: 11-09-19
I have tried a number of Audible Books that didn’t hold my attention long. Knowing nothing about this book or author, I gave it a try.
It’s excellent! Non-stop action, well-defined characters, new ideas, excellent dialogue. I also enjoyed the reader, who really helped bring the pages to life. Will be searching for another book by Grumley.
