Historia
Seasoned obituary writer Eve Mallow has a new assignment: to tell the life story of famed musician Bernard Fitzpatrick. A chance to spend a few days in the sweet little village of Saxford St. Peter, walking the country lanes with her beloved dachshund, Gus, and meeting new people sounds like a dream. But it turns out that Bernard’s life was much less interesting than his death. On the day she arrives, news breaks that the charismatic cellist was the victim of a grisly murder. Could this quaint English village be hiding a dark secret?

Had to skip to the end
Revisado: 07-30-23
The writing is well done. The main character is awful. She is constantly judging others when she herself is a horrible person. Zoe is the only redeeming character but does not save the book. The ending is not that exciting and everyone is all to laissez-faire about the actual victims.

Disgusted by this book; Encourages abuse of woman.
Revisado: 01-19-22
Three woman physically and emotionally abused; coercive control, forced miscarriages, isolation from friends and family, rape, financial abuse. Evan goes in confidence to a woman’s shelter promising to keep the secrets and women there safe. Then without even a thought to his promise and what these women have been though—after the law has completely failed them and they have no where to go—he arrests them and violates the safety of these women he promised to keep safe. I’m absolutely disgusted. I will never read this series again. And I’m even debating cutting off all Ryhs Bowen despite my love of her Royal Spyness.

Ancient Egypt. Land of the Pharaohs. A kingdom built on gold. A legend shattered by greed. Now the Valley of Kings lies ravaged by war, drained of its lifeblood, as weak men inherit the cherished crown. On the eve of the festival of Osiris, the loyal subjects of the Pharaoh gather in Thebes to pay tribute to their leader.
Exploding with all the passion and rage of a bygone time, River God is a masterpiece of historical writing.

I didn't know it was based upon actual scrolls found in a pyramid until the end of the book. I wish I would have known sooner,it made the book much more interesting. I thought the book had a slow start, but was a great read.

Instead of nostalgia, Binchy evokes contemporary life; instead of Christmas homilies, she offers truth; and instead of sugarplums, she brings us the nourishment of holidays that precipitate change, growth, and new beginnings.

Historia
From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory; the other in search of the love that she had and lost; theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both.
