Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

amazingly well done story and narration
Revisado: 04-06-25
The story was well written and the cast was simply superb for narration. it kept me enthralled the entire time. Despite this being in the horror genre, it is not so terrible as so many of our modern murder mysteries are in their horrificness. This will probably be the one and only horror book I read, but I enjoyed it immensely. This was my first true reading of Dracula and the only other context I had for it was having watched Dracula dead and loving it with Leslie Nielsen which is a comedy so it helped make light of some of the more serious moments in the book.

Historia
The story that made Agatha Christie famous ends with one of her most dramatic twists. The villagers of King’s Abbot are shocked when a wealthy local widow commits suicide and the very next day her fiancé, Roger Ackroyd, is stabbed to death. Dr. James Sheppard, the local physician, discovers the body of his friend and narrates the ensuing hunt for the killer. All the guests and staff at Ackroyd's country house seem to have solid alibis - except for his missing stepson.

this was done so well. I have listened to over 50 hours of Agatha Christie and this was one of my favorites and probably my favorite Hercule Poirot.

Bertie Jenkins has spent forty years serving as a midwife for her community in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. But soon Songbird is forced to make a heartbreaking decision that will tear this little family apart.

too cliche and surface level
Revisado: 11-20-24
The writing was terribly cliche and not interesting in death of a gossip and the character foiables were irritating. very little depth of character. death of a Cad was better, still fairly cliche and the process of how Hamish solves the murders isn't well written, but it improved from book one to book two. My interest in the characters is enough to potentially read at least a few more in the series to see if it keeps improving.

Good concept for a book but cliche and over simplistic
Revisado: 08-28-24
The concept of the book is great but it was written with too many cliches and it was oversimplified. there would be moments of good character development but then they wouldn't go anywhere. also there was tons of build up and the the end of the book was wrapped up with a little bow sort of in 30 listening minutes. The ending was very anticlimactic and could have fleshed out a lot more of the things brought up in the book that would have completed the character development. the epilogue wasn't good and didn't help wrap the book up. it didn't touch on All of the things that should have been continued to be written to have a good and proper ending of the book. The reader wasn't necessarily bad but she sounded old and most of the characters were young so it didn't fit. her voice sounded appropriate for the grandma and her friends and that was about it.

Historia
More than half a century ago, the naturalist Farley Mowat accepted an assignment to investigate why wolves were killing Arctic caribou. Mowat’s account of the summer he lived in the frozen tundra alone – studying the wolf population and developing a deep affection for these wild creatures (who were no threat to caribou or man) – is today celebrated as a classic of nature writing, at once a tale of remarkable adventure and an indelible record of the myths and magic of wolves.

Some lines should never be crossed. Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.
