I saw the poor reviews and immediately thought these people are crazy. As an avid listener to audiobooks and before a vision issue reader Robyn Carr’s books were always my first choice. The story line captures you from the first hook sentence which is a literary technique of creating an enticing beginning—the very first line or opening of a story—designed to capture readers’ interest. Till the last words The End at every end. Ms Carr’s books are never a disappointment. Also Theresa Plummer’s narrative draws you right in so you are apart of the story from the beginning to the end.
Ms Carr’s use of strong hook grabs readers, by throwing them into the middle of the dramatic action and by generating curiosity about the characters. She puts you right into the action action, emotion, and will have your you guessing about your characters’ motivations, backstories, and future outcomes. I hated for this story to end. I want to know more about Lauren and Beau life. About her daughters and his sons lives. About Beths families. Tim’s life away from the priesthood and emotional conflicts if any about leaving the priesthood marring then becoming a father. And at 50 it’s still possible for the unexpected pregnancy. Can’t wait to see if these lives continue in future lives.

Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions - grief, loss, and anger - that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

Ms Glass’s books never disappoint me. From the very first word to the very last line she draws you in so you feel that you are apart of her family. She does the kind of work that too many people could not. You can feel the love in her writings from the moment she first hears about the child until her very last second with them. Of all her books this set of parents were the cruelest. She loved their kids took care of them discovered what was happening which caused the mother to get the help she needed. Well done Cathy
