Historia
Return to America’s most beloved fictional hometown! Lake Wobegon is having a boom year thanks to millennial entrepreneurship—AuntMildred’s.com Gourmet Meatloaf, for example, or Universal Fire, makers of artisanal firewood seasoned with sea salt. Meanwhile, the author flies in to give eulogies at the funerals of five classmates, including a couple whom he disliked, and he finds a wave of narcissism crashing on the rocks of Lutheran stoicism.

As always. a refreshing look at small town America.

Keillor always does this to me: I'd be laughing then sobbing in a single paragraph or less. Beyond a doubt, he is this country's or at least this generation's best storyteller.

The unapologetic intensity with which Emily Brontë wrote this story ensures that it will forever be considered one of the greatest works of English literature. A passionate tale of a chaotic and often violent love, Wuthering Heights transcends your average romance and, with its Gothic undertones, takes the listener on a journey through one man's lustful hunt for revenge.

I've been Heading back in time for a literary bucketlist of books I read in highschool or somehow missed. I remember this book being good, but I'd forgotten just how good. i was pleasantly surprised and, honestly, part of this Audible edition's greatness is the flawless narration. This was an experience I hated to see end!!

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".

it's likely been 60 years or so since last I read this book. I've been missing so much. This book (and possibly Huck Finn) are leading candidates for the greatest American novel. Twain is an icon and Offerman does an iconic performance of this precious work. I would give MORE stars if possible!!

Historia
Dr. Joanna Kujawa argues that in the process of recovering the healing power of the Goddess we have focused solely on the mother archetype and left out the other Goddess, who is often represented in mythical, historical, and Gnostic sources as wise, mysterious, and in the possession of the healing power of Eros. Looking into esoteric traditions that celebrated the Goddess and her art of sexual alchemy, Dr. Joanna Kujawa discovers that Mary Magdalene stands at the center of this investigation

Excellent inquiry into a forgotten history
Revisado: 06-10-23
Exceedingly well-written book with not only scholarly researched information, but also personal anecdotes that show Dr. Kujawa's long interest in the histories of Mary Magdalene. We see how this history was purposefully erased by misogynistic religious leaders and historians. Very informative work. The narration was well done as many of the names were difficult, but Ms. Redmond was never stymied. I would highly recommend!!
