Narrator killed the book for me

Stina was so good in Jennifer Armentrouts book series I am so surprised how terrible she did narrating this book. I couldn’t tell who was talking half the time because she sounded the same no matter who was talking. There was no inflection or pausing sometimes during different characters talking. I get it… wanting to use a new narrator for Nestas story…but Stinas characterization of Mor, Amren, Rhys, and Feyre, even Cassion who I swear she kept saying Cashion… she made them all sound like whiney wimps. It’s very hard trying to get thru the audiobook. I’d rather read it and hear their voices in my imagination, like the other 2 narrators. Jennifer Akeda was the best one. I can’t even talk abt the book because the narrator was way too distracting. Shame the narration detracted the story line.

Please when is the next book out. I cannot wait. I love love love Elizabeth Evans narrations. And when he said who he was at the end! Blew my mind!

Just wasn’t necessary

The last 3 books were just not necessary. There wld be times where a character wld say something profound and then a paragraph later says the same exact thing in a different way. Then a chapter or so later the same thing is said once again. These were just fluff to make it longer and omg the ending never ended. The end, oh and btw this happened too. The end oh wait let me tell you a story abt how the author came to write their story the end. Oh and just one more thing. A poem just because. *SMH* thank god I listened to this because there is no way I would have slogged thru the books. At least I could play it as background noise while cleaning the house. The end!

Really Loving it...but

Every time I hear Jennifer Ikeda I hear Feyre and Rhys! lol I am really enjoying this story line though. I believe this is my first Kelly Armstrong book series. I like the plot. It has good character development and how they progress thru the story. Recommend it!

Couldn’t tell when it was a male talking or a female. It would have been better if there was a difference between them. It was hard to follow.

Loved every minute of it

Read some negative reviews because they didn’t know it was a book 1. Well it was well worth listening to every second. You’ll love it too!

Horrible narration

The narrator is not very good. Cannot tell who is talking half the time, which character that is. Sounds stilted, makes the characters sound immature and not relatable at all. I can’t even get into the story because of the narrator. Might have to look for the ebook.

Horrible Narrator

The story is great, as great as the middle of a story can be. Jennifer Ikeda was sooo much better as the narrator. And to be fair when If first heard Jennifer, I did not like her voice either...but it grew on me and she "became" Feyre. Amanda Leigh Cobb makes Feyre sound like she is a high handed bitch who is only looking out for herself. Her tone sounds condescending to me, to the other characters. I just dont like her narration. Too bad you had to switch.

Story is great tho...I'd rather read it at this point. I'm just hoping the next book sounds better.

Heartwarming & Real

Where does When It's Real rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really love the narrator's. They really made the book come alive. I loved the voice of both of the characters in the book.

What other book might you compare When It's Real to and why?

I would compare this book to any sweet YA/NA book where there is a HEA and a tad bit of drama.

What about Caitlin Kelly and Teddy Hamilton ’s performance did you like?

OMG, I love Caitlin Kelly!! She is such a good narrator. Love her voices. Her girls sound like girls and her guys have a very nice raspy timber to them to make it sound like a young man speaking.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Its a feel good book. It did not make me cry, but laugh in a few places. It's a guilty pleasure to give you the 'feels'.

Any additional comments?

Love Erin Watts. She doesn't have a ton of books out there yet, but I have a gut feeling she will go very far. Loved the Royals books and I cannot wait to see the next chapter on Easton's story. I would love to read more books similar to this theme and the Royals from Ms. Watts. Read'em you won't be disappointed.
