Historia
While exploring her new home, a young girl named Coraline unlocks a door to reveal a hidden passage. Intrigued, she ventures deep into a mysterious mirror realm, a world eerily similar yet darkly different from her own. There another mother and another father greet her, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.

Historia
During the last days of Narnia, the land faces its fiercest challenge - not an invader from without but an enemy from within. Lies and treachery have taken root, and only the king and a small band of loyal followers can prevent the destruction of all they hold dear in this, the magnificent ending to The Chronicles of Narnia.

Patrick Stewart’s performance!
Revisado: 12-13-23
Patrick Stewart’s inspired narration has elevated one of my least favorite Narnia stories to one of my favorites!

Another great Narnia Story but not my favorite of the 7
Revisado: 06-08-23
Another good adventure, that includes morals and biblical/Christian symbolism, that can be a bit obvious at times, rather than subtle or nuanced. A pretty basic story, one of the more fairytale like out of the 7 books, but not without more mature moments like Prince Rillian’s final meeting with his father near then end.

Historia
With Quiet, Susan Cain urged our society to cultivate space for the undervalued, indispensable introverts among us, thereby revealing an untapped power hidden in plain sight. Now she employs the same mix of research, storytelling, and memoir to explore why we experience sorrow and longing, and how embracing the bittersweetness at the heart of life is the true path to creativity, connection, and transcendence.

Takes you on a journey of longing.
Revisado: 04-24-23
Susan Cain takes you on a journey, exploring longing and joy through many different perspectives on the melancholy and sorrow we are bound to experience in life. One of the main takeaways is that these emotions are not only OK, but also essential to living a whole and fully integrated life.

Historia
William Wordsworth (1770 -1850) is one of the most popular and enduring of the English poets. His poetry is beloved for its deep feeling, its use of ordinary speech, and its celebration of nature and of the beauty and poetry in the commonplace. Together with his friend, the poet and political activist Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Wordsworth helped launch the romantic age in English literature. These poems demonstrate the astonishing range and beauty of Wordsworth’s work and his sustained, coherent vision.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 04-26-21
I struggled to follow the readings of these poems. I know that Wordsworth is a well respected poet, but I’m not used to the sort of flowery, superfluous language or the didst, thy, hath type of language. I found many times listening to this where my mind drifted off and I had to put in an effort to focus back in. The best audio books are the ones where I have to give very little effort to focus and be drawn in.
I don’t get a lot of time to read so I didn’t feel like putting that effort in. So listening was a bit of an experiment to see if I would enjoy the poetry read aloud enough to listen again or actually take time to get a book in front of me.
Part of it was also the fairly monotone voice that the reader used. And frequent feedback sounds. It was not a quality recording compared to newer recordings or made for Audible options

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Finished it in less than a week!
Revisado: 04-25-21
Laughed, cried, thought deeply, found patterns and through lines, and mirrors to my own life. I’m turning 30 this year so I’m about 20 years behind Matthew Mcconaughey and the stores he told and the way he identified green lights in his life at the time and in hindsight has given me a lot of inspiration on what to do as I seek direction at this mile marker in my own life. As much as he prepared himself for the greenlights by living a life to the fullest and not half assing, he also put himself so far out there to catch the lights that it was either catch it or fail. Sink or swim. And because of his values, work ethic, and confidence he always seemed to come out swimming. It the times where he did, it was simply a light he was waiting for to turn green and doing whatever he could to make the most of they time in the meanwhile so he’d be fully ready when it did turn green.

Outstanding Production
Revisado: 02-02-21
It’s productions and voice acting like this that draw you in. This is the 2-3 time I’ve listened to Enders Game. I originally read it in high school. Between the story and production I couldn’t stop listening. It’s the kind of story that draws you in then turns you on your head at the end and totally shifts your perspective about what was happening. Though I prefer the way the book ends things a little more in its full form.
