Historia
Reed Timmer is one of the most successful and most extreme storm chasers in the world. His is a job that requires science and bravado, knowledge and instinct just to survive, never mind excel. It's a job some people would kill for. But most prefer to let Timmer take the risks while they watch from the safety of their homes. Reed Timmer is a star of Storm Chasers, one of the Discovery Channel's top-rated shows. Into the Storm is Timmer's dramatic account of his extraordinary profession.

Never stop chasing...
Revisado: 06-23-22
I'm a weather nerd so it was great fun to read about one of the storm chasers I've watched on TV & YouTube. Tho it was a little weird to hear Reed's point of view in another voice. Not that the narrorator's voice was bad in any way. He did an excellent job even if to me he sounded more like Skip Talbot (another chaser I watch)! I've just been watching Reed chase for years & listening to him talk about the science of reading radars or excitedly yell out "TORNADO! BIIIIIG TORNADO!" so it was a bit odd until I got over it.
The scence of meterology has come really far since this book was published but it was still interesting to hear of Reed's "chaser-genesis" & how what he did in those early days helped shape some of the advancements in understanding what causes those terrible, beautiful storms.

Glad I stuck around for these!
Revisado: 04-26-21
I had almost given up on this series because of this narrator. He's gotten so much better since the first book in the series. Over the course he seems to have found his cadence & found the "voice" of the characters. He now keeps the quick pace of the story without leaving me rewinding because I feel like I missed what just happened. & I loved the little blooper reel at the end. *hits subscribe button*
The story continues to be good; an interesting take on the hero's journey, a fun little fantasy with a distinctly eastern feel.

Historia
Stunning...a wonderful listen...a handbook for life. Those words of advance praise from another celebrated author scarcely convey just how powerfully mesmerizing is the latest book by New York Times best-selling author and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Larry Elder. Dear Father, Dear Son is a personal memoir of Elder's troubled - one might even say tortured - relationship with his father, and the astonishing outcome that develops when Elder, at long last, confronts him.

A moving HUMAN story
Revisado: 04-14-21
I really enjoyed this book because both the son & the father get to grow & learn from each other & their family. I loved how all the hard-ass things the writer's father said & did made him into the strong, successful person he became, how the father was truly loving & caring once you dug beneath his gruff exterior, the strength & character of the mother & how even the "screw-up" brother touched many people with his kindness & presence in his community. There was no right or wrong here, just people making their way (sometimes by making wrong choices) & learning who the people in their family really were & how much love there really was between them.

Cool concept, but rushed reader...
Revisado: 04-07-21
The reader seemed to be rushed. I'm sure I would've enjoyed the story more if he would've slowed down a bit. He read the whole thing at the same fast pace, almost like an action scene. I had to keep rewinding because he zoomed thru leaving me no time to visualize or feel. I did like the concept though & wouldn't mind checking out the rest of the story. But I'd probably get the physical book so I could take my time.

I'd read this as a physical book but it is greatly enhanced by being read aloud. Possibly because a story about Natives *should* be spoken & listened to, not just read & put on a shelf.

Historia
In early 1970, artist Ralph Steadman went to America in search of work and found more than he bargained for. At the Kentucky Derby, he met a former Hell's Angel, one Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson wrote later that "The rest of that day blurs into madness. The rest of that night, too. Steadman was lucky to get out of Louisville without serious injuries, and I was lucky to get out at all." Thus began a 30-year friendship and a working relationship that gave birth to what became known as Gonzo Journalism.

So awesome to hear Ralph's side!
Revisado: 03-11-21
Packed with lots of great HST ravings, it was very interesting to listen to Mr. Steadman's perspective on their gonzo journey. Not many could balance & complement such an original, intelligent, savage being and I am grateful he shared his experiences.

I love this story!
Revisado: 02-26-21
I had read this a couple years back & ate it & its sequel up in a matter of days. So good! But I really love being able to listen to it here best though. Something about this story just fits with it being told aloud, as if I'm eavesdropping a couple tables over from where Kvothe is telling his story to the Chronicler & Bast.
