As a native Chicagoan who grew up in the city and worked across the street from City Hall, where I would occasionally see Daley the younger, it brought back memories. This book is a tale of a large metropolis that is just a collection of neighborhoods. Even today, my hometown has the shadow of Richard J. Daley hovering over it, casting a large shadow. I am on a city council in another state. I read this book as a reminder of what not to do as a public servant. During his tenure, Mayor Daley built many things in Chicago. He did some good and terrible things, too. This book looks at everything: the good, the bad, and everything in between! Mike Royko's book is outstanding study on the life of the man and it is well worth the read.

The book took us through the trials and triumphs of Jason Wilson. The story is relatable to myself and many men. A journey to deal with and overcome trauma is an all too familiar story. This book reveals how faith and family (blood and chosen) helps us to find our life’s purpose.

This was a great book that gives you insight on Al Franken beyond his persona from Saturday Night Live. The book is very funny and covers some very serious topics. If you are a political junkie like I am and a Liberal, you will love this book.
