This book teaches you how to harness all the negativity in the world and use it to improve your life, taking everyday feelings like self-loathing, regret, and shame and making them work for you. Positive thinking is for assholes. Negative thinking is for winners.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Any additional comments?
I didn't really like this book. My husband's nerdy cousin recommended it and promised I would love it. This book was written for people who are or were nerdy teenage boys. Although, I had moments of being a bit of a loner, I was never nerdy. Not to mention, I am a female so I have only experienced being a teenage girl. I think this book might also require some interest or experience with gaming. This also doesn't apply to me.
Overall this book deserves a three. It is creative, but it only applies to a very select group of peoples' interests. I found the banter between the boys to be very childish, but very comparable to how my husband's adult cousin converses...trying to one up everyone on his knowledge of useless things. Usually he just sounds like an idiot without any social skills. Books that deserve a 5.0 or even a 4.7, like this book currently has, should be books that can relate to any reader.
Side notes:
I don't see it being very plausible the 80s will be very popular in the distant future.
Wil Wheaton is not a good actor so why was he selected to read this? He overacts the entire thing.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Fantastic
Revisado: 06-21-17
What made the experience of listening to Born a Crime the most enjoyable?
I loved how the author was able to recall and capture the feeling of himself and the people in the book. As someone who gets really emotionally invested in the emotions of others, I loved that he made difficult things lighter than they might have actually been. But, I believe they could have been that light because Trevor and his mother had such positive attitudes all the time.
What did you like best about this story?
The total feeling, like I was there with the author as he went through every experience. Trevor made me feel like I was part of it all because he was so great at incorporating emotion into his thoughts and the words that came from his mother. It was so cool that so much history was explaining through his personal experiences.
Which scene was your favorite?
I liked the beginning and the end the most. Through everything in the book, the story of Trevor's mother and Trevor as mother and son was the best. Trevor's mother was the kind of mother everyone loves in any story.

Response to the bitter comments...
Revisado: 06-15-17
Any additional comments?
I have to be honest, many of the comments on here are really frustrating. These are two people who wish to repair their marriage. They aren't there to play a game of who gets the blame. The counselor is not there to tell either party that they did something wrong in the past, she is there to help them be able to communicate honestly and to help them each be receptive to that honesty. When the husband tells how he was feeling, the wife constantly wants to argue against that as if his feeling aren't valid. The point the counselor is making is that he had those feelings and they were real. She isn't telling the woman that she was at fault nor is she taking "the husband's side", she is simply saying that the wife needs to listen without immediate judgement. The wife if very defensive and that is totally understandable, but the counselor's job is to help her be less defensive so that they can communicate openly and in a safe place. If the wife never truly forgives her husband than they will never move past their problems. Once she is able to forgive and let her guard down, then they can work on building something worth saving. BOTH PARTIES in this episode were responsible for not communicating, despite that the man did something completely stupid as a result of it. The counselor has to fix the communication problem first!
As a side note about her being like a dead person: sometimes feelings aren't kind or pleasant and sometimes they are downright rude and inappropriate. But, it seems like many of the listeners wanted the counselor to scold him for that comment. Although maybe not pleasant, he was trying to convey that he didn't want it to be another chore for her. That is a big problem in many relationships, he should have said it a LONG time ago rather than cheating. Then, she could have said how she felt, etc. Relationships take work and HONESTY.
I am 32 years old and I have been with my husband for 12 years. I can tell you that the biggest reason why we work is because we are honest despite how that honesty will make the other feel at that moment. I love that we have that because, if we didn't, who knows where we would be. We definitely aren't perfect people, but our willingness to communicate when something doesn't feel right makes us happy in our relationship 99% of the time. We both feel heard and we both make an effort to make adjustments when we need to. If you don't grow together you will grow apart and that is what happened with these two people, but they can recover it if the learn how to.

Historia
Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things that clutter our lives so we can make room for life's most important things - which actually aren't things at all. At age 30, best friends Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus walked away from their six-figure corporate careers, jettisoned most of their material possessions, and started focusing on what's truly important.

The word is important, not imporant!
Revisado: 12-20-16
What made the experience of listening to Minimalism the most enjoyable?
I like the writers and their take on minimalism.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Justin Malik?
Malik can't say the word important correctly and it is used A LOT in the book. Malik also seems at times like he is slurring his words.
