Wretched delivery of a great message
Revisado: 12-09-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This material deserves a much better performance. The reader's delivery is choppier than a Ginsu commercial. The reading is littered with jarring mispronunciations (Thoreau pronounced as if it were thorough, etc.). How many who needed to hear this were deprived of this message because they couldn't endure this abysmal performance?
Any additional comments?
Please, Audible, don't let this reader read the Bible; it might result in a tsunami of atheism.

Can't judge a book by its cover
Revisado: 08-07-12
If you could sum up The Heart of a Soldier in three words, what would they be?
Learned lots new
Who was your favorite character and why?
The couple, Gen. & Mrs. George Picket, late CSA, astounded me, and blew away my presuppositions and stereotypes. I didn't know of the Lincoln-Pickett link or or Marse Robert's Gettysburg coverup. Aptly titled, this book gives us a glimpse of George Pickett's human core.
Which character – as performed by Andrew Mulcare – was your favorite?
[see above]
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Wanted to, yes. Did, no.
Any additional comments?
I wish Mrs. Pickett had seen fit to include letters from before 1860, perhaps some from when Pickett was commanding American troops in the Pig War standoff with Great Britain in 1859.

keep listening
Revisado: 06-18-12
Would you listen to Get Off Your 'But' again? Why?
I almost made the error of switching off this audiobook before really giving it a chance, because the author, who is also the audio performer, has a high and weak voice. I'm glad I kept listening long enough to find out why, On my next listen, I'll be hearing the whole thing.
