Historia
Even in death, Skilgannon the Damned's name lives on. Now, as an ancient evil threatens to flood the Drenai heartlands in a tide of blood, he returns.... A thousand years after they fell in battle, two heroes - Druss and Skilgannon - are revered throughout the war-torn lands of the Drenai, where men and women live in abject fear of the dark sorceress known as the Eternal.... But what if the soul of one such hero could be called back from the void, his bones housed again in flesh?

A fitting end to the series
Revisado: 10-11-24
I have been a fan of the series starting with The Legend. The novel brought back the great Skilgannon & Druss while interweaving stories of the characters in a familiar way that allows one to connect with them.
The story & narration was excellent. I’m a bit sad to know the series is done but it clozed well.
If you’re a fan of Druss, it’s a must read.

Hidden epic
Revisado: 03-15-23
Just finished audio book - The Broken Sword. Enjoyed it. Took a while to get used to the flowery prose but then it greatly enhanced the narration. Good mix of fantasy & mythologies. Narration by B Pinchot worked well with style of book. Definitely recommend.

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

Slow burn but worth it
Revisado: 02-20-23
The story starts slow & I had a difficult time with the narrator’s pace. But I kept with it between books and I’m glad I did. Eventually I got caught in the character development and was looking forward to each chapter. A wonderful surprise of historical fiction, knighthood, horror, fantasy, & redemption. Definitely give it a chance.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

A different take on Achilles & Patroclus
Revisado: 11-16-22
Picked up the book because I love epics & mythology; And the Iliad is one of my favorites. And reviews seemed good.
However, I should have read more of the reviews. While it was enjoyable, it definitely could have been in the romance genre.
It took a few chapters before I really got into the narrator. Overall, I thought it was a fresh take on the tale of Achilles.
