Doesn’t it seem that the more we seek happiness, the more elusive it becomes? There is an easy fix: fun is an action you can take here and now, practically anywhere, anytime. Through research and science, we know fun is enormously beneficial to our physical and psychological well-being, yet fun’s absence from our modern lives is striking. Whether you’re a frustrated high-achiever trying to find a better work-life balance or someone who is seeking relief from life’s overwhelming challenges, it is time you gain access to the best medicine available.

Historia
Julia Blythe is starting again. After blowing the whistle on a fellow surgeon at her hospital, resulting in him being let go, she found herself illegally bullied from the job by her male colleagues who closed ranks against her. No longer willing to endure their campaign of smears and intimidation, she packs her family up and moves to Devon, to start a new life in a new hospital. To Nathan Sloan, who abuses his role as a surgeon as fully and freely as he can, she couldn’t be more perfect.

Well done from beginning to finish. Characters were believable… story line was so well done that it frighteningly should make us all pay more attention to our surroundings and those around us.

Historia
After her release from a concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom set out to become what she called a “tramp for the Lord,” traveling around the world at the direction of God and proclaiming his message everywhere. Throughout her life-long experiences, she learned a few lessons in God’s great classroom, which she here shares with listeners. Corrie introduces us to her former prison guard, who asks her for forgiveness; a war-crippled lawyer with a soul as twisted and deformed as his limbs; and more.

Historia
Neva Bradley, a third-generation midwife, is determined to keep the details surrounding her own pregnancy - including the identity of the baby's father - hidden from her family and co-workers for as long as possible. Her mother Grace finds it impossible to let this secret rest. The more Grace prods, the tighter Neva holds to her story, and the more the lifelong differences between private, quiet Neva and open, gregarious Grace strain their relationship.

Could not listen to the narrator
Revisado: 11-27-20
I think the storyline might be good - I honestly couldn't take the narrator's voice. She talks in that little girl voice that is like nails on a chalkboard. I tried to get past it and I enjoy Sally Hepworth - please re-record this with another narrator

Historia
"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

Terrific!
Revisado: 10-16-15
Would you consider the audio edition of It's a Long Story to be better than the print version?
Absolutely - the narrator was terrific and his rhythm was perfect for setting the stage.
What did you like best about this story?
What a truly amazing life - he has done more in his lifetime (good and bad) than almost believable. He acknowledges all the mistakes of his past and seems to learn from them.
Which scene was your favorite?
When his son called letting him know the house was on fire and he told him to pull the car into the garage. Also how he dealt with the IRS by parking his bus in front of their offices.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
His deep roots with family

This was a flop on so many levels
Revisado: 10-16-15
What could Sandra Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The "love" scenes were poorly written - out of place - and unnecessary
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The recording equipment was bad - there were VERY noticeable times when sessions had stopped and restarted. The narrator was fine just didn't use top notch recording equipment or something was wrong with the equipment
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment - confusion - and "you have got to be kidding" feeling

Historia
Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Buy the book - not best in Audible format
Revisado: 05-07-14
What didn’t you like about Fannie Flagg’s performance?
Love Fannie Flagg as an author, but she really needs to hire a reader for the future. I would not download another audible with Fannie Flagg as a reader, she is not horrible but it is definitely an acquired taste.
Any additional comments?
Loved the story, just needed a different reader to make this amazing.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

One of my top 5 audible books
Revisado: 05-07-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I highly recommend this book - even though this is fiction, it is based around historical facts and concepts of the time. It displays the emotions behind true friendship and the hearts behind the first glance of those you meet. This book touches the soul
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Book Thief?
Loved the 13 presents that she brought to Max
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh, cry and in general made me more conscience of how I treat others on a day to day basis.

Three strangers who are trying to find their way in the wake of loss become entwined in an identity theft scheme, which has a resounding impact on them all. A gorgeously written psychological study, and a meditation on identity in the modern world, this is a literary novel with the haunting momentum of a thriller.
