Sorry but I just could not listen to the narrators - two lead characters
Revisado: 07-16-24
Welcome to nightvale and Alice is not dead were very enjoyable partly because of very good narrators. I was disappointed how different this book was.

Historia
After getting a note demanding his presence, Federal Agent Aaron Falk arrives in his hometown for the first time in decades to attend the funeral of his best friend, Luke. Twenty years ago when Falk was accused of murder, Luke was his alibi. Falk and his father fled under a cloud of suspicion, saved from prosecution only because of Luke’s steadfast claim that the boys had been together at the time of the crime. But now, more than one person knows they didn’t tell the truth back then, and Luke is dead.

I can’t understand him, why such a heavy accent was chosen?
Revisado: 10-23-23
I don’t understand the choice of the narrator’s heavy accent. Honestly I could not even finish the first chapter. Maybe it is a great book, idk.

Historia
In this groundbreaking new work, Mark Booth embarks on an enthralling intellectual tour of our world's secret histories. Starting from a dangerous premise - that everything we've been taught about our world's past is corrupted, and that the stories put forward by the various cults and mystery schools throughout history are true - Booth produces nothing short of an alternate history of the past 3,000 years.

Can I please return this book? It was a painful experience, so bad…

Nothing good to say, how can I get a refund? I wish I could get a refund of time spent listening to those senseless thoughts…

This would be a good book to read
Revisado: 04-28-23
I like Audio books when I don’t have to marvel at the mastery of the language and don’t have to savor a slow moving story… That’s just me, I could not just get into the story..
Narrator’s voice to me sounded childish, nasal and distracting… Again just me, lots of people may love her and this book…

Historia
In 1956, toward the end of Reverend John Ames's life, he begins a letter to his young son, an account of himself and his forebears. Ames is the son of an Iowan preacher and the grandson of a minister who, as a young man in Maine, saw a vision of Christ bound in chains and came west to Kansas to fight for abolition: He "preached men into the Civil War", then, at age 50, became a chaplain in the Union Army, losing his right eye in battle.

I really wanted to like this book…
Revisado: 12-25-22
Narrator is too emotional, distracting. I know it is highly rated from a literary standpoint, but to me it was boring, and in spite of trying to listen multiple times I just could not get interested in it… Not a book to listen for fun, to contemplate maybe, if you are in the mood for very serious matters of life…

Historia
On April 11, 1931, Virginia Woolf ended her entry in A Writer's Diary with the words "too much and not the mood." She was describing how tired she was of correcting her own writing, of the "cramming in and the cutting out" to please other readers, wondering if she had anything at all that was truly worth saying. The character of that sentiment, the attitude of it, inspired Durga Chew-Bose to write and collect her own work. The result is a lyrical and piercingly insightful collection of essays and her own brand of essay-meets-prose poetry about identity and culture.

Revisado: 06-15-20
I actually liked the book, but cringed about listening, dry, unnecessarily fast, unfelt, sad attempts to sound literary... Me. Peterson with all due respect please keep doing what you are talented, expert and gifted at... Which is not reading...
