Historia
A deadly coup within the Wizard's Guild leaves the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, gravely injured, and his ward Ciri missing in the third book of the New York Times best-selling series that inspired the Netflix show and the hit video games. The Wizards Guild has been shattered by a coup and, in the uproar, Geralt was seriously injured. The Witcher is supposed to be a guardian of the innocent, a protector of those in need, a defender against powerful and dangerous monsters that prey on men in dark times.

Historia
The year is the very near future. A brilliant young doctor and mathematician, Vijay Patel, has invented a new health/sport watch that monitors blood chemistry so accurately, it can actually predict when someone will die - within 10, 20, or 30 days. The intention of this "Final Notice", as it is called, is to allow people to get their affairs in order and reach out to loved ones before it's too late. But when those notified have easy access to a gun, the result is sometimes lethal for more than just the watch-owner.

A Good First Try
Revisado: 06-30-22
Fleisher deserves credit for creating a unique storyline. His character creation and handling of multiple protagonist deserves praise.
The book's narrator, Chris Koprowski, wasn't a good fit for this book. With multiple characters playing equal parts throughout the novel, a narrator with more character voices was needed.
Lastly, the book was politically motivated to the point where is was difficult to finish the book. Word of caution, be prepared for what you're getting into before starting the book.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Great bounce back Book for Weir
Revisado: 11-17-21
For those who might shy away from Weir's writings because of Artemis, don't give up. PHM is a great science fiction story with a solid plot, great flow, smooth character development, and not overly predictable. It's a highly detailed book especially in the science / math categories. I can see them making a movie out of this as well. Great job Andy!

Try it
Revisado: 10-27-20
This is a very different take on magic and I suggest you at least try the book. Get through the first five chapters before you make up your mind.
Yes, the narrator's voice sounds sloppy at first, but I think he’s trying to put a distinct accent on the main character.
Butcher doesn’t quite nail the main character’s story progression until nearing the end. There’s needless conflict inserted as fillers, but again, it’s entertaining if not a bit clumsy.
This isn’t a perfect book and it’s got some holes in it, but Jim Butcher does a good job entertaining. Get through the first part of the book then make your determination but you should at least try it out.
I’m going to read the next book in the series before determining to give up on Dresden.

Not His Best Work
Revisado: 06-28-20
This Series is really good, I've enjoyed Kong's writings. This book however, it's pretty awful. It doesn't move the story along nor does it move the character. Don't judge the series by this book.
Honestly, there's no reason to listen to this book unless you just need to waste an Audible credit.
Sorry Aleron, can't recommend this one.

Detailed and sometimes dry
Revisado: 06-16-19
The book is very, very detailed and can seem very slow at times. However, Crile does a very good job explaining he circumstances surrounding our initial involvement in Afghanistan. It also gives a glimpse into the unintended consequences of getting involved over there and how those decisions affect current day events.

The Passage falls short
Revisado: 06-07-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
First 1/2 of the book was extremely slow with pointless character creation. If you can get past the first 1/2 with out returning it, you might enjoy the rest of it.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The first 1/2 of the book needs to be condensed, and leave out the extremely long character back stories that have no part in the main plot. Also, Cronin spends a lot of time building a world for which the main plot pretty much ignores during the 2nd half of the story.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott does an extremely good job narrating the story. Yes, I've listened to other books he's done (Tom Clancy).
What character would you cut from The Passage?
A lot of them.
Any additional comments?
I haven't decided if I'm going to read the next book, but if you like the narrator and the author, it might be worth a shot at listening. Part 6 & 7 is when the story starts to become interesting, just remember that.

Not Tom Clancy
Revisado: 05-13-16
First let me say, that Blackwood has some very large shoes to fill. With that being said, Tom Clancy's writing style is unique. In this particular book, the lack of specificity and seemingly unknown information, that you would normally get out of a Tom Clancy book, just does not exist in this book. Though an original idea, there's nothing within the story that reaches out and grabs your attention.
The vision that Tom Clancy had, which could almost be described as omniscient, does not exist in this book. Without giving too much away, the book is very backwards thinking as it pertains to current events and the political environment.
I've read most of the books in the series, and this is by far the worst rating I've ever given one. It's probably worth a credit, definitely not a full price book, make sure you get it on sale.

But above the remote planet Akiva, an ominous show of the enemy’s strength is unfolding. Out on a lone reconnaissance mission, pilot Wedge Antilles watches Imperial Star Destroyers gather like birds of prey circling for a kill, but he’s taken captive before he can report back to the New Republic leaders.

Hollow book
Revisado: 11-17-15
What disappointed you about Aftermath: Star Wars?
1)Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Droids - Not part of this story. 2) This book was written for teenagers3) Overuse of metaphors to a extreme 4) Saddening & baseless insertion of gay men, and children of a gay couple.5) Author appears to not have a strong understanding of the Star Wars Universe, written more like a Star Trek movie or screen play.
What do you think your next listen will be?
It will not be by Mr. Wendig, who I am sure it a good author, but was either given horrible parameters to write the book (by Disney), or under qualified to write such a important book
Would you be willing to try another one of Marc Thompson’s performances?
Yes, I have listened to others from Marc, including other Star Wars books, and they were good. However, trying to narrate a book of such poor quality is difficult.
What character would you cut from Aftermath: Star Wars?
They need to start over, maybe get with Timothy Zahn for more books.
Any additional comments?
This book was horribly written, and waste of time and money. I would stick with the current star wars universe, since at some point, Disney is going to have to make an exception and include many of the existing books in its cannon. This really was awful.
