This was my first time experiencing a story by Mark Allan Gunells and I'm looking forward to reading some more by him. This book will captivate you from start to finish! The intense journey of Patrick and Clare is very well done and the antagonist is very sinister. All of this tension explodes in a jaw dropping finale that will blow you away. I'm so glad I got the chance to discover this gem and I hope you enjoy the ride too!

One of Athan's best - a brutal masterpiece
Revisado: 02-08-21
I'm an avid fan of Jon Athan and The Groomer further cements him as one of the best horror writers. He tackles the very sensitive subject head on and doesn't shy away from portraying it in the most raw and brutal fashion, and I applaud him for that because the crimes in this book are things that happen in real life. I highly recommend this book.

An extremely brutal and relentless masterpiece!
Revisado: 05-30-20
I'm a huge fan of Jon Athan. His books are very graphic and he doesn't hold back on the violence. And Trespassers takes it to another level, even by his standards. Once the mayhem starts it never lets up, and when you think the story can't get more brutal Athan turns up the intensity even higher. I felt drained by the end because of how unrelenting and unforgiving the story is.
I HIGHLY recommend this book if you're a fan of extreme horror. This book will not disappoint.

TJ Payne delivers again!
Revisado: 05-23-20
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
TJ Payne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! This is the third book of his that I have listened to and it did not disappoint. What I like about Payne is that each book has been unique. Intercepts was a great horror sci-fi story. In My Father's Basement was a very intriguing character study of a serial killer. Now TJ presents us with The Venue - the story of a, shall we say, "unorthodox" wedding that only TJ Payne could conceive.
Right from the start you can tell that Caleb, the groom to be, is a bit unstable, to say the least. So unstable that he chooses to celebrate his wedding day by thrusting his ex Amy into a bloodbath. I don't want to venture into spoiler territory so you'll have to find the rest of the story out for yourself. I highly, highly recommend this book if you're a fan of horror novels that are somewhat grounded in reality, and I especially recommend it to anyone who's a fan of any of TJ Payne's prior works.

Historia
The internet is a scary place. Beneath Facebook and Twitter is another world. One in which anything can be obtained - for a price. A community of black markets, depraved pornography, and death. This is the dark web. Leon was just curious. He had heard the stories of the secrets and forbidden fetishes that the dark web offered. He was an activist, protesting against war and hate. But after a protest became violent, he felt he needed protection. Being a teenager with no way to buy a gun legally, he had no choice but to turn to the dark web.

An interesting spin on dark web horror stories!
Revisado: 03-16-20
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This novella was intense! It has a lot of the elements of the dark web urban legends/horror stories but Lucas Magnum puts a unique spin on the subgenre. It's very intense and graphic as he does not hold back in his descriptions of brutal violence, and I respect him for that! If you're a fan of extreme horror you don't want things to be watered down. As you might surmise, this book isn't for the squeamish but if you love hardcore horror stories and are fascinated by the dark web you'll enjoy this one!

Some campfire stories are real. It’s been 25 years since Cyrus Hoyt’s infamous killing spree at Camp Forest Grove. A quarter-century since teenage counselor Melanie Holden left him mortally wounded and escaped with her life. Motivated by a lucrative publishing offer, as well as a desire to free herself from recurring nightmares, Melanie’s research into the murderer’s life brings resistance from all directions as she uncovers skeletons in Forest Grove’s past.

The first part of the book will lead you to believe that it will be a slasher in the vein of Friday the 13th but this story will take you on a roller coaster and leave lots of twists and turns! This book is not your typical serial killer/final girl story. It's very unique and the farther along I got the more intrigued I was, desperately wanting to know what happened next. I highly recommend this book!

AWESOME book with awesome narration!
Revisado: 12-18-19
The Good, the Bad, and the Sadistic is an extremely graphic and intense book in true Jon Athan style. If you're a fan of movies like I Saw the Devil you'll DEFINITELY appreciate this one. The antagonists are extremely sick and the methods the protagonist uses to catch and punish them are very twisted. And as brutally violent this book is Chelsea Kirkpatrick's narration is eerily beautiful. She does a fantastic job and I look forward to listening to more books narrated by her in the future.
5/5 - highly recommended!

September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River - off season - awaiting her sister and friends. An innovative masterpiece!
Revisado: 12-18-19
This book was ahead of its time. Hard to believe it was written in 1981.
Jack Ketchum was a horror legend, multiple winner of the Bram Stoker Award and has many notable fans, including Stephen King. Off Season was his introduction into the horror world and boy, did he make a fantastic entrance. Off Season is a jaw-dropping and unforgiving tale loosely based on the legend of Sawney Bean, a man who allegedly led a clan of cannibals in 16th century Scotland. It is extremely violent even by today's standards so it's no surprise that upon its release the book was slammed by critics as being too graphic. The publisher forced Ketchum to take out certain sections and despite the fact that the book sold well it pulled the book from the shelves. Thankfully, the book was re-released without the cuts and in the uncensored form that Ketchum had always envisioned.
This is a must-read for any fan of extreme horror. Ketchum is one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend this book and checking out his other novels.
