Not many authors I’ve run across cover what it’s like tone in this age group with these concerns and hopes and disappointments. Everyone covers your 30s and the struggles but it’s so nice to know that even after your 30s your dreams and life ups and downs matter still so thank you

Historia
I just met my new son-in-law . . . And he’s my ex-husband. They’re here. I watch them arrive from the kitchen window. My pregnant daughter and her new husband. They’ve barely known each other six months. I greet him with a tight smile that he recognizes as fake. Luke is no good for my beautiful, fragile Cerys. He’ll break her heart. I know that because he broke mine — when he was married to me. I don’t know what he’s after. But I’m going to make it my business to find out.

Goofy, but entertaining
Revisado: 02-06-25
Storyline was really wild lol. How is every single character awful? But the story keeps you entertained and overall I liked it. Everyone is talking about how awful the daughter was (she was) but not talking about how delusional and kind of awful the mom was as well. Every character was just gross but I suppose that’s what made it interesting. Narration was very good, especially the awful mom, her reader has a nice voice.

I was getting lost in the beginning trying to remember who was who and the supporting cast for each bride’s story but I stuck with it. Towards the end it started to flow better

Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Dragged on to a lackluster end
Revisado: 12-17-24
I wanted so much to like this book and the first chapter or two were a good start. Then it just kind of dragged and dragged to the point you just wanted it to end already. Main character was kind of annoying and obtuse at times. Why wouldn’t you call the police or change the locks if you’re just gonna keep complaining about it? Anyways then the end just came in hot and fizzled out. I was disappointed. 10 hours for what?

Great book, title doesn’t match
Revisado: 12-08-24
I’ve read nearly all of K.L Slater’s books now and I’ll keep reading them if you keep writing them. The title didn’t make sense at the end, made it seem like the sister kidnapped or coveted the baby. Also, naming the sister Carrie and the hubby Perry was super confusing for no reason. That bit was irritating lol but the book was great!!

Interesting
Revisado: 05-12-24
I’m a Jill Eileen Scott fan but this was not my favorite. I liked the notes at the end that explain it’s not an easy story to write and it did prompt me to go back and read the story in the Bible which is great. The writing is good. Narration didn’t do it for me. Some voices had such a weird tone that didn’t fit well and God’s voice just sounded like the narrator cupped her mouth as she spoke which was awkward. The narration needed more work.

I liked this series. The narrators were great and I liked the 80s setting though it didn’t feature as much as I imagined it would but was still good. Guessed the twist a bit early on but was still a good listen.

Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

I really liked this one and the narrator was really good. Her kids voices were realistic and her adults distinctive enough.
