Historia
When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

It gets better after the first half
Revisado: 01-31-24
I almost put it down not liking any of the characters except for Laura. Thank goodness Irene was there. It did get better

Historia
Happily retired in the village of Three Pines, Armand Gamache, former Chief Inspector of Homicide with the Sûreté du Québec, has found a peace he'd only imagined possible. On warm summer mornings he sits on a bench holding a small book, The Balm in Gilead, in his large hands. "There is a balm in Gilead," his neighbor Clara Morrow reads from the dust jacket, "to make the wounded whole." While Gamache doesn't talk about his wounds and his balm, Clara tells him about hers. Peter, her artist husband, has failed to come home. Failed to show up as promised on the first anniversary of their separation. She wants Gamache's help to find him. Having finally found sanctuary, Gamache feels a near revulsion at the thought of leaving Three Pines. "There’s power enough in Heaven," he finishes the quote as he contemplates the quiet village, "to cure a sin-sick soul." And then he gets up. And joins her.

So disappointing
Revisado: 03-17-23
This story is surprisingly boring and ridiculous. I used to like Peter and Clara but I no longer do. I can’t finish the story so I don’t know if Peter comes home or not. I love Ralph Cosham and I’m so sorry to hear of his death. Not sure if I should listen to the next book in the series or not.

Cruel Deeds Fin Fitzpatrick does it again
Revisado: 02-15-22
Fin Fitzpatrick deserves her own Netflix or Hulu series. Another riveting story. I hope she comes back again in more stories. Eileen Walsh is perfect as Fin and a joy to listen to
