Historia
It was June of 1869 when John Muir reluctantly accepted a job herding sheep from the central valley of California to the headwaters of the Merced and Tuolumne Rivers, high into the Sierra Nevadas and deep into the Yosemite region. He felt ill equipped for the work, and yet the opportunity thrilled his adventurous spirit. With a notebook tied to his belt, he set out for a summer he would never forget. My First Summer in the Sierra is Muir’s classic account of that extraordinary journey.

John Muir's wonderful discovery of things Yosemite
Revisado: 12-30-15
If you could sum up My First Summer in the Sierra in three words, what would they be?
It is just so wonderful to read of Yosemite and of places I know intimately there.
What did you like best about this story?
Muir was young and on the verge of discovering his life's road. First he explored then he gets the vision to preserve a place he intimately experiences.
Which scene was your favorite?
The one where he knew his friend was in Yosemite without knowing that in a way which is often expected. A lot of things fall together for him on his personal journey here.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Though those are the ones I prolong and savor...no pressure when you can read and dream along with the author.
All nature narrators...slow down. This is a book to savor.
Any additional comments?
Was so glad to watch John Muir discover his nature observation gifts and to see others provide time for him in the field...Very cool!

Where does Nature Notes for 1906 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is my favorite nature treatise next to Annie Dillard's Pilgrim At Tinker Creek. It is soothing and delightful.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nature Notes for 1906?
Her expressions when discovering things are great. She includes well thought applicable poems with the seasons.
Which scene was your favorite?
Without giving anything away it is really one of my favorite books.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Delight.
