Love is for other people, not for me. At least that’s what I believed, until I met Julian Hill. The most famous rock star on the planet. A music god with untidy hair and the voice of an angel. I’ll never be anything but out, and he has very good reasons to stay in the closet. He just wants a little privacy. I understand that. Truly, I do. But no one makes me feel the way he does, and I’m pretty sure he has feelings for me as well. Which is inconvenient, since his record label just hired me to sue him. Guess I should’ve sorted things out before I kissed him…oops.

I liked one of the narrators. The one for Jules was good
Revisado: 04-08-25
It’s basically just Harry Styles fan fiction the character of Sam was pretty flat. He was simply “adorkable” with no real personality. He keeps talking about LGBT rights but there’s no actual action he’s just virtue signally instead of having an actual personality.

Historia
In this deeply scary and intensely unnerving debut novel, Jake and a woman known only as "The Girlfriend" are on a drive to visit his parents at their secluded farm. But when Jake leaves "The Girlfriend" stranded at an abandoned high school, what follows is a twisted unraveling of the darkest unease, an exploration into psychological frailty, and an ending as suspenseful as The Usual Suspects and as haunting as Misery.

Not very original
Revisado: 04-21-24
What a waste of 5 hours. I’m so disappointed. It got such good reviews. People were so surprised by the ending like they’d never read anything like it. It was well written. It did go on and on I was getting frustrated at one point and wanted to yell get to the point already. I guess some people who haven’t read a lot of psychological thrillers would be surprised by the ending but it’s an old trope I’ve seen done many times before. I even thought to myself when I started the book that if it’s one of “those” stories I’ll be disappointed. And it was it was.

Historia
I first saw the Folk when I was a little boy, when they started appearing in my garden, with their unnatural, cruel beauty and honeyed words and veiled taunts. I grew up with big green eyes watching me from the forest. Whispers from the trees. Shimmering skin darting between the bushes. Black creatures always lurking in the shadows. While they were here, I thought nothing of them. It wasn’t until they were gone that I realise it wasn’t…normal. But it isn’t until I’m twenty-one, when my life is in ruins, that they come back to take me away.

Historia
Private detective Nick Bozic works the mean streets of 1950s Portland, Oregon, shadowing unfaithful spouses and nabbing thieving employees. He may be lonely, but at least he’s not crooked. Despite the festive season, Christmas simply means less dough in his pocket. With the holiday only a few days away, a regular client drops a new case on him: Yet another being has come through the Rift and needs help finding his way home. Maybe Evindal the elf will help Nick find something, too - a bit of cheer and magic amid the usual brew of corruption and betrayal.

The writing and narration were good. But the story was just sad. If you want “all the feels” you’ll only get a few of the more somber ones.

The writing wasn’t bad. It wasn’t good either. The premise was interesting and the sex was dark and kinky. I liked this as smutty escapism.

The narrator was excellent. But the story bogged down and got sort of boring and predictable. I always have trouble with time travel stories where a modern person chooses to stay in the past. I could never give up modern conveniences like antibiotics and civil rights… and Netflix.

Historia
Nikolas Mikkelsen could make a very long list of unpleasant things he's endured in his life. Then order it from "nearly killed me" to "extremely horrific and don't want to do again". And what does it say about his 45 years, that being hit by a tsunami would be considerably way down on this list? But nothing - not torture, imprisonment, or starvation - has prepared him for what he now has to endure for Ben Rider's sake - attendance on a residential gay-therapy course.
