Historia
High-priced call girl, Tawny Dell boasts a client list that's part Fortune 500, part Five Families. With a PhD in art history and a tidy chunk of money stashed offshore, she hangs up her G-string with plans to retire to a Mediterranean island to open a gallery. Lincoln Walsh, NYPD sex-crimes investigator, has other ideas. He wants Tawny to work undercover at a high-class bordello to discover if a murdered call girl worked there.

A mystery of characters more than plot
Revisado: 03-30-14
This isn't a cozy mystery, and it's not a hard-boiled detective story. It's a sometimes laugh-out-loud novel of characters living in a bad world of their own making, doing bad things that they often would rather not be doing. There's a good bit of sex and sexual tension in Polly Iyer's story. (Hello? A lot of the action takes place in an upscale brothel.) In one scene, the tension is hot, then in the next it's deliberately off-kilter and all kind of wrong. The narrator, Francesca Townes, does great voices but she doesn't "just" do voices. Through her narration, the players in this audiobook become real and involving, with actual conflicts and dynamics. Listening to this story done like modern radio drama by a single narrator was just so damn entertaining, my only complaint is that it wasn't longer. I was having such a good time that I didn't want it to end. Definitely recommended.

Historia
Monsters are real, and human beings can be the scariest of them all. It's an unfortunate fact that real life is sometimes more twisted than even the worst horror writer can imagine. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than when discussing serial killers. While many people can understand, if not condone, a crime of passion or vengeance, it is different for those who kill, time and time again, for reasons that the common person, could not hope to understand?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you like learning about aberrant violent behavior, this is a good book. Short, but a well laid out explanation of what a serial killer is. Also, listening to a book like this is maybe better than reading because when you read, you have a tendency to read through some passages too quickly and not really get all the info. I really feel that I learned a lot for the time invested.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Serial Killers True Crime?
It was interesting to hear what Jack the Ripper and Jeffery Dahmer actually did when they murdered. It's different from what I always thought.
What does Francesca Townes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I thought that Francesca Townes did a great job. Very nice voice and articulate, and read at a good pace.
