Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

surprising gem

really interesting and enjoyable. I never thought the national weather service could be anything but bureaucratic and dull, but Micheal Lewis turns bureaucracy into heroism

First book in the series
Revisado: 07-08-14
If you could sum up The Bone Season in three words, what would they be?
haunting, unfamiliar, incomplete
What other book might you compare The Bone Season to and why?
I can't think of another book to compare this to. I would compare it to the bones of a cathedral. It is, by itself, fascinating... BUT it does not feel fleshed out and/or complete.
What about Alana Kerr’s performance did you like?
She did a good job at distinguishing characters from one another.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but it was one I wanted to listen to again as soon as I was finished.
Any additional comments?
It is the first book in a series, so that explains a lot, but so many parts of the world/characters are left in fog. I'm not sure it this was on purpose, after all, in real life no bad guy actually gives an explanatory monologue. For me, it added to the immersion, but i'm not sure it would work for everyone.

beautiful book
Revisado: 07-18-12
Where does Wolf Hall rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best fiction books i've read in a long time.
What did you like best about this story?
It was written so elegantly. Very simply, but very convincingly.
Which character – as performed by Simon Slater – was your favorite?
Maybe Cardinal Woolsey. He was very different that what I pictured, but I still enjoyed the interpretation.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Impossible to pick just one moment, as they all build on one another.

Historia
Tiffany Aching has spent years studying with senior witches, and now she is on her own. As the witch of the Chalk, she performs the bits of witchcraft that aren't sparkly, aren't fun, don't involve any kind of wand, and that people seldom ever hear about: She does the unglamorous work of caring for the needy. But someone - or something - is igniting fear, inculcating dark thoughts and angry murmurs against witches.

Smug
Revisado: 07-22-11
I like many of Terry Pratchett's novels, but the Tiffany Aching novels have gotten worse and worse as time goes on. I Can barely make it through this smug pre-teen fantasy of being smarter than absolutely everyone around you. It is worse than twilight with this "main character is special because of her special specialness and everyone around her is dull and ordinary and stupid" It is boring to read for an adult. It probably does actual damage to a teenager who is already feeling isolated from the people around her.

horrible
Revisado: 12-02-10
Well not horrible. But pretty bad. The characters background stories were engrossing by themselves, but the actual plots (there are two that have nothing to do with each other) were really truly horrible. Disappointing because I read the hard versions of daughters of brittania and courtisian (sp) and I LOVED them. Made me want to be a better person love. Too bad

Better Read than listened to
Revisado: 02-28-09
I read the first book in this series and loved it. I think part of what made it so wonderful was actually reading it. Sitting down quietly with a book let me enjoy every little taste of Africa. It is a book to experience. I didn't like this one as much mostly because I listen to my Ipod when I am in the car or running errands. There is always something going on to distract from the experiences contained in the book. The story wasn't enough by itself to keep me interested. Through no fault of the author or narrator, I just got bored. This book was not made for audio.
