Historia
Twenty-six-year-old editorial assistant Nella Rogers is tired of being the only Black employee at Wagner Books. Fed up with the isolation and microaggressions, she’s thrilled when Harlem-born and bred Hazel starts working in the cubicle beside hers. They’ve only just started comparing natural hair care regimens, though, when a string of uncomfortable events elevates Hazel to Office Darling, and Nella is left in the dust.

Good book, very slow plot line.
Revisado: 11-19-21
There were a few times I got lost in the back stories of the background characters. Lots of background story lines that probably could've been left out. Hard to follow if you pick up the book and put it down, maybe listen in large blocks of time. The book finally starts to get exciting in the final 3 hours. The ending was a little abrupt, wished more time was spent on the ending. Definitely "Get Out" / "sunken place" vibes.

Historia
Just when Carlie decides she’s done with dangerous men, she’s thrown right back into the fire by Kirk, her manipulative and deceitful new lover. Not even the diamonds and extravagant gifts can keep the tension from rising when Carlie realizes that Kirk’s sleazy sidekick will do any and everything to steal her man - even if it means extortion.

Good story, the ending was unnecessary!
Revisado: 09-03-21
After everything that girl went through, she deserved a happy ending. I liked this book more then the second, would have been nice if Karlie actually stood up to Devone or at least got some hits in or something.

Historia
The Ladies of MHB are all together again and ready to take their newfound success to the next level, but with success comes more haters and rivals who are shooting at the team on top. After living through the largest shootout in downtown Charlotte's history, the women have decided to take the group all the way legit. MHB owns enough real estate to secure the future of all the original members and new recruits alike. There's only one problem: nobody believes these country girls can leave the streets alone and maybe, just maybe, they really can't.

Book 3, diverts from MHB
Revisado: 08-29-21
I knew from reading the other comments this book diverts from the MHB storyline. Maybe after chapter 3 or 4 there's no mention of MHB, and like other readers I anticipated the reintroduction of MHB that never came. Although this book diverts away from MHB I'm still curious to see if book 4 will bring back the characters we miss, or how everything will come back full circle. Overall this was a good listen.

Historia
In this shocking novel of a young girl alone on the streets, Donald Goines delves into yet another facet of the ghetto experience - the dark, despair-ridden world of a black girl's soul.
Sandra took to the streets when she was eight years old and tried to fight off the hunger pangs by shoplifting and moving into the profits of drug pushing. Then she met Chink, and with him she discovered love and affection...as well as rape and murder.

First listen of a Donald Goines Book
Revisado: 03-17-21
From the plot to the pace of the story to the narrator, everything was amazing. After listening to the book, I decided to research the author and now I'm about to start my next book by him!
